Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2019

by The Cheeky Vino

Recently I was sent a bit of a classic to try: the Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2019. I was so excited to give it a go. I have to admit I have heard of Grant Burge wines but never actually tried them. Now that I have I can see what the hype is about.

The Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2019 is a seriously beautiful Shiraz that is only going to get better with age. It makes for the perfect gift for that wine lover in your life who loves to hold on to wines in the cellar.

The Grant Burge Wines Filsell vineyard of near century-old vines is considered one of the best vineyards in the Barossa Valley and is said to consistently produce fruit of incredible intensity and concentration. It was planted all the way back in 1920!

2019 was one of the driest vintages seen. As a result, the wines produced are rich and concentrated. You can certainly see this in this beautiful Shiraz!

The Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2019 is an intense shiraz packed full of all the flavours you know and love. It was deep and dark in the glass and on the nose, I got black fruits like plum balanced by dark chocolate, mocha and a hint of vanilla and earthiness.

On the palate, this wine had good firm tannins which will make for great age-worthiness in this wine. The weight was full and rich with intense flavours and a nice long finish.

The Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2019 is a serious food wine and would be perfect with braised meats. Personally, I’d be popping this one away to further develop the flavours – I can’t wait to see where this one goes!

This wine is available from Grant Burge directly or in major retailers nationally.
