Wine review: Bijou Terre de Providence Pinot Noir
If you love the idea of French wine but not so much the price tag that usually comes with it, let me introduce you to the Bijou Terre de Providence Pinot Noir. This one comes from the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, and it’s soft, elegant and everything you want a Pinot Noir to be without asking you to think too hard about it. On the nose, you’ll find a lovely core of strawberry and cherry, with a touch of pepper spice and redcurrant weaving through, plus a subtle earthiness that gives it a bit of character and intrigue.
The palate follows on beautifully, with that same pure, pretty fruit carrying through and a light, refreshing mouthfeel that makes this wine so easy to drink. The tannins are fine and gentle, so there’s nothing here to fight against, just a smooth, satisfying sip from start to finish. Honestly, this is exactly the kind of wine I want in my glass on a weeknight.
