Wine review: Domaine de Fontenille Luberon Rouge

Recently I was sent a few wines from Domaine de Fontenille to try and it’s been so amazing trying their range. Having stayed at their hotel a few years ago, it’s been extra special resisting their wines with the help of Makersvine. After sampling their RosΓ© and white, I was so excited to give the Domaine de Fontenille Luberon Rouge. This wine is a blend of Grenache (70%) and Syrah (30%) producing a beautifully rich and nicely balanced red that’s perfect for pairing with food. This wine and a nice roast lamb would be an absolute dream come true.

The Domaine de Fontenille Luberon Rouge is a full-bodied and intense red wine that has been released with a few years of age on it, meaning you can enjoy it now for rich and complex flavours. On the nose, this wine has lovely notes of cherry and spice along with a hint of earthiness. This follows through into the palate which has a lovely balance of rich and luxurious notes of vanilla and spice, and just the right amount of acidity. This wine makes you want to come back for another sip – it’s simply delicious!

About Domaine de Fontenille

Domaine de Fontenille is at the heart of Luberon in Provence, France. The region’s mountains of clay and limestone create expressive wines that speak to the beauty of the region. Originally established in 1638 (yep, you read that right), Domaine de Fontenille has long been a standard-bearer for Luberon wines. Young winemaker Xavier Balespouey combines history’s lessons with modern minimal intervention techniques to create elegant, contemporary wines.

You can find out more about this wine on the Makersvine website.
