I’m so happy I can finally review the Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 because I’ve had it squirrelled away for a good few months now. Who knows why the opportunity did not arise until now, but I can tell you it was worth the wait!

I have a habit of doing this with wines I know I’m going to like. They stay in my wine fridge for the perfect occasion, and sometimes this is to my detriment! Really I should just drink them because wine is delicious. However, I’d bought this wine for Valentine’s Day and we didn’t end up drinking it, so I think I built it up in my head. It is also from Provence, my favourite region for Rosé, so I didn’t want to drink it on just any occasion!

Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé is just yum

Rameau D'or Provence Rosé the wine I finally opened

So I finally cracked open the Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 over the weekend. The reason for it ended up being that we needed to bring a bottle of wine to a birthday party, and we are running low on our drinking Rosé. I think this was probably for the best because it forced me into drinking this wine I’ve been sitting on for how many months. Really I should have been enjoying it all along!

The Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 is great for lovers of Provence Rosé. It’s delicate salmon colour and flavours took me back to our trip to the South of France where I spent most of my time sipping on Rosé. Better times if you ask me! If you are like me and obsessed with Provence Rosé too, it can be hard to find good ones in Australia that don’t break the bank. But I can tell you now that this wine is your answer. Coming in just under $30 a bottle, it is the perfect drinking Rosé for those that don’t want to spend the cash. Plus, it has such a nice label! And you know how much of a sucker I am for nice labels on wine.

Why I loved it

Rameau D'or Provence Rosé the wine I finally opened

The Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 is made of a blend between Grenache and Cinsault, giving it a gorgeous salmon hue and delicious flavours. What I found really interesting about it was the subtle nose. It had savoury notes along with a bit of a floral aroma of rose. I really liked it because you didn’t get hit in the face with the flavours. It was intriguing and left you wanting a sip, or five.

The flavour itself was deep and rich. Full of berry-fruit flavours that are rounded out with a crisp, dry finish. There was a great length on this wine, which I really loved because you sometimes don’t get this in Rosé. The crisp flavours in the wine left you wanting one more sip after another. It meant as a result that the bottle was finished all too quickly.

Overall I loved how balanced this wine was. I am usually not a big fan of rich Rosé, but because of the dry finish in this wine, I really enjoyed it. This is why I love Provence Rosé so much!

What to enjoy it with

The Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 goes perfectly with my favourite accompaniment: cheese. I really enjoyed having this wine over different cheeses, cured meats and nuts. It goes perfectly with afternoon drinking with friends, even though the weather is a little colder!

If you want to pair this with a meal, I think because of the deep flavours it will go well with food too. I think seafood would be a great pair with this wine as long as it was grilled. However, if you are like me an Italian is more of your jam, a risotto or oil-based pasta dish would be perfect!

The final word

The Rameau d’Or Provence Rosé 2017 is a great find here in Australia. It has a great price point for a Provence Rosé, and the perfect flavours to match. I am sad I have none left, but happy I got to experience this delicious wine. It was crisp, floral and absolutely delicious with the perfect Provence dry finish to match. Guess I’ll just have to go out and grab another bottle!
