We had a fantastic weekend at the beach. We haven’t spent a lot of time there this year with restrictions in place, so it was so nice to get away. It doesn’t get much better than relaxing by the ocean with a glass of wine in hand – especially when it is a fantastic rose like the Mont Wines Rosé 2018!

It’s no secret that I am obsessed with Rose, especially as the weather warms up. I’m always on the hunt for new ones to try, and I have to say I had my eye on this one for a while! After trying the Mont Wines Pinot Noir a few weeks ago, I was so excited to receive their Rose to try!

About Mont.

Mont Wines Rosé 2018

Mont Wines was started by Martin Burns whose friends call him Monty. After working on his parent’s vineyard in the Pyrenees, he fell in love with wine. After studying he settled in Mornington Peninsula he started his own label – Mont.

The focus is small-batch single-vineyard wines which truly express the origin. Martin sources small parcels of grapes from regions and vineyards that grow each varietal best. Grapes are handpicked and certified organic wherever they can. The wines use classic winemaking techniques with oak that complements the flavours. He also has a focus on sustainability in everything he does where he wants Mont to be as responsible, sustainable and ethical as possible.

Why you’ll love the Mont Wines Rosé 2018

If you’re looking for easy-drinking warm weather rose, the Mont Wines Rosé 2018 might be the wine you’ve been looking for. It has been produced from Pinot Noir grapes so will offer a different style to those classic Provence roses. I love this because you get different flavours to those French styles.

Don’t be fooled by the slightly brighter colour in this wine. Although it’s easy to think that a brighter pink rose will be sweet, the colour doesn’t indicate sweetness. This wine is a classic example of this as it is perfectly dry, crisp and refreshing. Perfect for an afternoon drink on a warm afternoon.

Flavour-wise, you’ll find this wine super light and refreshing. I got classic Pinot Noir flavours from this wine of strawberry and raspberry, all rounded off by a nice crisp finish. I found the wine all too easy to drink, and the bottle was polished off very quickly as we relaxed by the ocean!

What to enjoy it with

Mont Wines Rosé 2018

Because the Mont Wines Rosé 2018 is more on the medium-bodied side for a Rose, it goes very well with food. Personally, we still enjoyed this wine without food, but I think it would be the perfect wine for a warmer weather meal. Think a long lunch or summer dinner as the sunsets.

Food pairing wise, something light would be the way to go. Think grilled fish or a light chicken dish. I think even a light pasta could be a perfect pairing as long as the sauce isn’t tomato-based.

The final word on the Mont Wines Rosé 2018

The Mont Wines Rosé 2018 is a delicious rose that is set to be your new favourite summer food wine. Perfect for long lunches or warmer evenings, you’ll find this wine all too easy to drink! It’s vibrant colour and red fruit flavours are rounded off by a refreshingly crisp finish. Great with grilled fish or a light chicken dish, or even just a nice summer sunset!
