Wine review: Domaine Royal De Jarras Gris de gris

It’s no secret I love a good rosé, and it’s been a hot minute since I’ve had a French one. So when I was sent some wines from Domaine Royal De Jarras to try I was very excited. I haven’t tried wines from them before, and I absolutely loved how refreshing and affordable this wine is. It can be hard to find affordable French wine in Australia, so the Domaine Royal De Jarras Gris de gris is definitely one to check out. It is a great one for Summer catch-ups, the sort of wine that is perfect for sipping on with friends in the sun.

The colour of the Domaine Royal De Jarras Gris de gris is beautiful and light, with a nose of red berries, peach and citrus. These fruit notes follow through into the palate which is light and zippy. This wine is seriously refreshing with plenty of generous fruit all following through to a clean and satisfying finish. It is the sort of wine that you could enjoy with or without food, but paired with a tapas or cheese board and you have perfection!

About Domaine Royal De Jarras

Domaine Royal de Jarras produces organic wines from the Camargue region in the South of France. The Camargue is well known for its magnificent landscapes but it is less known is that it is home to a remarkable vineyard like no other: the Vignoble des Sables. The vast majority of this vineyard is located around the “capital” of Vin des Sables: Aigues-Mortes.

Jarras is the largest of the twelve estates, all of which are remarkable for their size and their sublime landscapes. The Domaine Royal de Jarras is a unique property in one piece with 429 hectares of vines. Their vines luckily survived the Phylloxera epidemic that appeared in 1863.

The main grape variety of the Domaine Royal de Jarras is Grenache, a grape variety whose juice after pressing has this unique color “rosé gris” hence its name Gris de Gris.
