Wine review: Tahbilk Grenache Mourvedre Rosé

The Tahbilk Grenache Mourvedre Rosé is an absolutely delicious Rosé that shows you shouldn’t judge a pink wine by its bright colour. Despite its vibrant pink colour, this wine is beautifully savoury, making it a great wine to match with food. Coming into Spring, this wine is perfect for those days when you want something to pair with a fresh chicken dish, Pad Thai or even Sushi. Sometimes I find Rosé too light to enjoy with food, but this one is a great mealtime Rosé!

On the nose, the Tahbilk Grenache Mourvedre Rosé is packed full of fruit flavours. Think cherry, strawberry, along with a hint of musk. This follows through into the palate which is refreshingly savoury with a lovely spice character that balances out the fruit. This wine is juicy yet savoury, and perfectly crisp and vibrant. It’s complex yet really nicely balanced.  At around $20 a bottle, this wine is sure to be a hit as we head into the warmer weather and is simply delightful.

About Tahbilk

Established in 1860 Tahbilk is one of Australia’s most beautiful and historic family-owned wineries. Located in the Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria (120kms north of Melbourne), the property was purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925. Now Tahbilk is home to 5 generations.

The name is derived from the location which the local aboriginal people first referred to as “tabilk-tabilk”, meaning “place of many waterholes”.

Tahbilk is home to the largest single planting of Marsanne in the world and some of the oldest Shiraz plantings dating back to 1860. They use traditional winemaking techniques to let the grapes shine.

You can find out more about this wine at the Tahbilk website. This wine is also available at select retailers.
