Wine review: Terroirs of the Granite Belt Aged Chardonnay 2010

It’s no secret that I’m a Chardonnay girlie, and my husband is – well what’s the equivalent for men exactly? Anyway, we both love Chardonnay, and he especially loves aged Chardonnay. So I have to say when I was sent the Terroirs of the Granite Belt Aged Chardonnay 2010 to try it was a miracle he didn’t crack it open without me! Thankfully I was able to get a taste of this before he devoured it, and I’m certainly glad I did! It’s always great trying wines from the Granite Belt, being the closest wine region to Brisbane. And if you love complex Chardonnay, I know you’re going to love this one too!

The Terroirs of the Granite Belt Aged Chardonnay 2010 has been aged for 12 years in bottle to ensure that it’s at the perfect drinking age for us to enjoy. The best part about this is that you can crack it open right away and enjoy a beautifully aged Chardonnay. And how beautiful this wine is! On the nose, you get notes of spice, brioche and lemon. This follows through into the beautifully complex palate. It’s rich and rounded with notes of buttered toast and cinnamon spice, along with a hint of earthiness. This is balanced nicely by lemon acidity that still retains a hint of freshness for this aged wine. It’s elegant, opulent and a seriously special wine to enjoy!
