Over the weekend Georgia Dale from the Yarra Valley released the Georgia Dale 2021 Syrah, and I was so excited to get an opportunity to try it. I’ve loved watching her wine journey on Instagram as she has been building up her own winery. I couldn’t wait to crack this special wine open!

The Georgia Dale 2021 Syrah is an absolutely delicious and luscious Syrah. It’s perfect for those that like their Syrah/Shiraz on the softer, cooler climate side as opposed to those big, jammy flavours of Barossa. On the nose, there is a hint of spice along with blackberry and cherry. This followed through to the palate which had a lovely balance between fruity notes of blackberry, plum and cherry and the twelve-month oak influence. The wine had a nice complexity that came together beautifully with silky tannins and a nice long finish.

The Georgia Dale 2021 Syrah is perfect for enjoying a nice meal. I think roast or grilled lamb would be great, otherwise, head to the tried and true classic combination of Syrah and steak on the BBQ. At $35 a bottle, this wine is seriously affordable and an absolute joy to drink.

About Georgia Dale Wines

Georgia Dale began her winemaking journey in the Yarra Valley at Domaine Chandon and over three years she discovered a true passion for sparkling wine. She then moved to Helens Hill and took part in the young winemaking program at No.7 Sourcing in Heathcote, Shiraz grapes. After working in America for a time and being part of making America’s greatest sparkling wine, she returned to Australia to work in the Adelaide Hills at Deviation Rd.

Now she is back in the Yarra Valley working on a small vineyard with 30-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon in need of love. After the successful release of her sparkling wine last year, the Georgia Dale 2021 Syrah is her next release. Her wine ‘XI.XI’ has evolved from passion and a desire to create something special. The numbers Eleven Eleven kept coming up in her journey and so XI.XI is the beginning of her next chapter.
