Wine review: Two Marnong Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs
Marnong Estate has just dropped its latest vintage reds, and among them are two Pinot Noirs that are sure to tick the boxes all round! What makes them so interesting is that they share everything (the winery, the winemaker, the vintage) except the vineyard they came from. Tasting the 2025 Marnong Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Heart and Weatherstone side by side is a brilliant way to see just how much that single difference can shape a wine.
First up is the Marnong Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Heart, sourced from the most central vineyard on the estate. This is a rich, generous Pinot. Think concentrated black cherry and plum, with a dark, mineral depth and finely woven tannins. It’s plush, polished, and seriously satisfying if you love a fuller-bodied Pinot with darker, deeper flavours.
The Weatherstone, from the estate’s most elevated vineyard, takes things in a completely different direction. It’s lighter and more delicate, with lifted floral and spice aromas leading to a delicously juicy red cherry palate, silky fine tannins and a crisp, refreshing finish. This Pinot is elegant and understated in the best possible way, and great if you love a lighter, fruitier Pinot.
Two vineyards, one vintage, and two totally different wines. Marnong Estate has made the case for terroir in the most delicious way possible.
