The Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018 ticks all the boxes. Sourced from Mornington Peninsula, this wine is full of ripe and rich fruity flavours of strawberry, cherry and cooked plums. Enjoyed with or without food, it’s the sort of Pinot that is affordable, delicious and one you don’t need to wait to enjoy!

Now that the weather is finally getting a little colder here in Brisbane, I am turning my attention to my red wines. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still enjoying the odd Sparkling, White or Rosé when the time calls for it. I’m not picky after all! But I have definitely found myself craving red wine more and more, and with that has come a strong desire for Pinot Noir.

I don’t know what it is about Pinot Noir, but I love it. And I love it even more when it comes from one of my favourite wine regions: The Mornington Peninsula. This region holds a special place in my heart, and it’s one I visited a lot when I lived in Melbourne. So when I got the chance to try the Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018, I jumped at it. I almost hoarded this wine because I just love Pinot and the Mornington Peninsula so much. But when the night was right, I decided it was high time I enjoy it! And enjoy it I certainly did!

The Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018 is easy-drinking goodness

Boujee Wines are all about finding the best fruit from around Australia to craft wines that they love, and that I’m pretty sure you will love too. I’ve tried a few of them now and I think I’m in love. They are the sort of wines that you don’t need to think much about cracking open. They are drinking well now and perfect for those occasions where you want something delicious but affordable too. All their wines are under $30 a bottle and for that price you can sign me up! The Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018 is no different – coming from their reserve range it is sold at just under $30 a bottle but for quality Pinot Noir it is incredibly well-priced.

Pinot Noir and the Mornington Peninsula go hand in hand. Being a cool climate region with sea influences (see, I am learning some things in my WSET2 training), it is the perfect temperature for producing outstanding Pinot Noir. If you get a chance, you should definitely visit this incredible wine region. It’s full of smaller producers that are creating some really great wines.

Why I loved it

The Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018 is perfect for enjoying young. So don’t think too much about opening a bottle or two to enjoy with friends! It is packed full of rich fruity flavours. Straight away I got strawberry, black cherries and plums with a hint of spice. It is deliciously juicy and packed full of flavours on the nose. On the palate, it has a beautiful delicacy and smoothness. It has the same fruit flavours but these are really rounded out by light tannins. The flavours really lingered long after you’d taken a sip, which I really loved.

So if you are a Pinot Noir lover and want something you can enjoy now, this wine is for you! It is juicy, fruity but structurally delicate. I found it quite complex and overall absolutely delicious. I definitely could see myself drinking a few of these over winter! Or even into Spring and Summer, I mean chilled on a Summer evening this wine would also be perfect!

What to enjoy it with

Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

You can enjoy the Boujee Reserve Pinot Noir 2018 with or without food. It has enough complexity to stand up against a meal, so definitely pair it with food if you are looking for the perfect red for dinner. The rich and ripe fruits in this wine mean you could easily pair it with anything from salmon to duck breast, steak to chicken. We paired this wine with a big cheese platter and inhaled it over a couple of hours on the couch. I was glad my partner was a little hungover so I didn’t have to share too much of it!

If you are looking for something to drink into the warmer months, you could also easily serve this Pinot Noir slightly chilled.
