Campbells Wines Rosé 2019: a great summer food wine

The Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 is the perfect wine for holiday celebrations or just sitting back and relaxing on a hot Summer’s day. It is refreshing, fruity and vibrant, making it the perfect food wine to enjoy with light summer meals. 

I know I am having a bit of a moment with Rosé but what can I say? It’s summer, it’s hot and it’s honestly all I feel like drinking! So Rosé it is, and this week I have another one for you that surprised me. I tend to gravitate towards wines that are from Provence or Provence style. They have the classic salmon colour and they are usually nice and dry with not too much sweetness. However, this week I got to try the Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 and it really got me thinking that I should be branching out more in my  Rosé drinking!

It’s good to try new things, and I’m definitely not one to pass up trying a different wine. So I was very excited to crack this bottle open when it arrived to try a different style of Rosé to what I’m used to. I have to say it was different to what I normally drink, but I actually really enjoyed it! So it goes to show that you shouldn’t box yourself into one category and instead you should just drink all the wine!

Campbells Wines Rosé 2019: fruity and crisp

Campbells of Rutherglen has been producing wine since 1870 in Rutherglen, Victoria. They are family owned and operated with fifth-generation winemaker Julie taking the reigns and her sisters helping with marketing and brand. You can’t get more authentic than that! Their focus on quality and hands-on approach produces wines that showcase the region, including this delicious

As part of their Summer Delights range, this wine is made for enjoying in this hot weather. Versatile, light and easy-drinking, it’s made for summer celebrations and light summer meals. With that in mind, it would be rude not to open a chilled bottle of beautifully pink wine over some dinner with friends! So we did just that over the weekend, and I can tell you it didn’t last long!

Why I loved it

I was surprised by the bright colour of the Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 but this comes from the mix of grapes that have gone into the wine. They’ve blended many varieties perfectly into this super refreshing, light and easy-drinking wine. I don’t normally drink Rosé that is this vibrant in colour but it makes me think it would look perfect on the Christmas table with it’s bright hue!

But the best part about this wine was the taste. The Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 has a really nice complexity that lingers long after you’ve taken a sip. There were notes of strawberry throughout with a hint of raspberry, however this was balanced out by a creaminess and kick of acidity at the end which left the wine crisp and refreshing. This was why it went down all too easy on a hot summer night!

I wouldn’t call this wine dry, and it is more on the fruity end of the scale for me. However, this didn’t make it any less refreshing as it was beautifully balanced. It was easy-drinking, light and refreshing. What more do you need in Summer? And at $22 a bottle, you’re not breaking the bank by grabbing a couple to have on hand throughout summer celebrations!

What to enjoy it with

Rosé is generally quite versatile, however, I found the Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 to be especially so. The fruity notes in the wine made for a great food wine. Think light summer meals like seafood, salad and grilled meats. We enjoyed this bottle with some Asian food and it was absolutely perfect! So much so that we polished it off well before the meal was over!

This wine would be the perfect addition to your holiday celebrations, either as wine at Christmas time or just when you’re catching up with friends. Its refreshing flavours lend themselves to cooling down on a hot day or enjoying with a light meal. It’s perfect summer sipping!

The Campbells Wines Rosé 2019 is a great wine for those who don’t like their Rosé too dry, or are simply looking for something refreshing and light. Its balanced flavours give fruit and crisp acidity making it all too easy to finish off a bottle. And at such an affordable price, it makes for a great wine for the holidays!

Whether you want to enjoy a Rosé with food or simply have some wine on hand for celebrating with friends, this Rosé would be a great option. Pairing beautifully with light, summer meals, it would be the perfect addition to a Christmas spread but would also lend itself to simply enjoying a bottle at home whilst winding down from 2019! Either way, you are going to have a good time with this wine in hand!
