10 Perfect Wine-Related Gifts for Wine Lovers

by The Cheeky Vino

Has anyone else been seriously late on their Christmas shopping this year? I myself have been really behind, as I’m usually really organised! Luckily online shopping is getting better and better, and how quick shipping now means that I don’t have to be as organised as I once was. But for you last-minute shoppers this post is dedicated to wine-related gifts!

It can be so hard to find gifts that you know people will love. I always overthink it and it can be quite stressful! However this year I’ve had a few people who I know the perfect gift for or at least the theme of the gift. Maybe it’s just that I know a lot of wine lovers, but it seems that for half of my gifts a wine-related gift is a no-brainer. It makes sense though, right? Everyone is in good spirits, and why not keep it going with something that relates to wine?

So I’ve decided to help you out with your wine-related gifts this year because wine-related gifts are always a good idea for at least one or two people on your list! I have done a selfless act you see, because you know I didn’t want to trawl gift sites for hours discovering all the wine-related things you can buy. Not at all. The problem is now I have really increased the size of my wish list for Christmas, and it seems everything is wine related too! I hope Santa is reading this post.

Here it is, my curated top 10 gifts for the wine lover in your life. Hopefully, this makes it a little easier for you to get that winning gift, and while you’re at it, you can grab one for yourself!

Wine Subscription Box

Price: $$$

Perfect for: The special person in your life

If you’ve got a bit of cash to splash, a great gift option is a wine subscription box. Getting someone the gift that will keep giving at least for a month or two is sure to be appreciated. Especially if they are often buying wine for themselves. It means they can not only try some new wines, but you’ll also be saving them money. Bonus points for giving them something they’ll actually use!

In terms of providers in Australia, I’ve noticed that VinoMofo has some great special Christmas bundles, and they will often do free shipping deals. Even if you don’t get a Christmas themed box, you can also look at their mixed bundles which range in price. Their delivery is quite quick as well, so if it’s a last minute gift you’ll be able to squeeze it in for a metro area delivery if you’re quick.

Another option is a company I’ve never tried but heard good things about. Wine Gallery offers boxes of wine that are specially tailored to the person. You can either get them to fill in their details with a gift voucher or order it for them if you feel like you know their taste. Once ordered, 3 wines will show up at their door in a special box with recipe cards to match! How good is that? This can be done on a subscription basis or as a one-off. It’s definitely a great gift!

Otherwise, you can get them a gift card to their favourite winery, wine subscription service or bottle store. That way they can choose what they want!

Wine Aerator

Via Kitchen Warehouse

Price: $-$$

Perfect for: Someone who is getting into wine

A wine aerator is a gift that someone who is getting into wine will actually use. It is a really useful tool to have if you enjoy wine, so you’ll be giving them something that will help them enjoy wine even more! It would also be great for someone who loves wine but doesn’t have one. Personally, I think everyone needs one of these in their life – so give them a gift that they won’t need to buy themselves!

Wine aerators differ in price and how they work. I personally love the VinOair one because you can pop it in the top of a bottle and pour as normal. The wine will be aerated without much effort from you at all! If you want something a little fancier though, you can go for ones which you have to pour the wine into, which can look quite artistic and beautiful. No matter what you choose, you’ll be giving the gift of wine that tastes all the better from being aerated. You’ll be turning their $10 bottles of wine into wines that taste like they’re worth $30. I mean you’re basically making them money!

The gift of being able to have wine in the bath..or shower

Via Hard to Find

Price: $15-$34.95

Perfect for: The bath lover

I have a lot of friends who love having baths, but they all have the same conundrum. How do you read your book or watch a show, and drink a glass of wine in the bath? It feels like it’s almost too difficult, and that you are for sure going to drop something!

Well, luckily I have two options for your bath-loving friend. Personally, I am a huge fan of this bamboo bath caddy from Kmart. It has changed my life and proves why Kmart is the leader in homewares. They have thought of everything with this caddy, but most importantly, they’ve put a spot for you to slide in your wine glass. That’s right, you can pop your book on there and also have a glass of wine! What will they think of next? This gift is perfect if you are on a budget, and you can even grab them some candles or bubble bath to make it a special gift pack.

The other option is a truly inventive idea that I wish I’d come up with. It’s a suction holder for your wine glass. So not only can you have wine in the bath, but you can also have wine in the shower! This would seriously take my shower enjoyment to the next level, and would take having a shower before getting ready from a chore to an enjoyable activity. This one from Hard to Find even comes in different colour options!

Prosecco Bag because Prosecco that’s why

Via Hard to Find

Price: $53

Perfect for: The prosecco lover in your life

I have actually bought this gift for a friend before because she loved prosecco so much. Now looking at it again, I really want it too. With plastic bags no longer a thing in Australia, there is so much opportunity to wear your heart on your novelty bag. And what better way to show your love for prosecco that with a prosecco themed bag?

The best thing about this bag is that it is appropriately Christmas themed but could be used throughout the year. It also displays words to live by if you are prosecco obsessed like I am. I would personally love to rock up to my grocery store and fill up my prosecco bag all year round!

A novelty bottle opener so they can open wine you bring over

Via Peter’s of Kensington

Price: varies

Perfect for: That friend you realise doesn’t have a bottle opener

I actually bought this gift for a friend this year because when I went to her house with a wine that had a cork, she realised she didn’t have anything to open it with! It can be pretty common to not have a bottle opener with so many wines having screw caps, but I think this is why this makes for a great gift! You’ll find people won’t have it, or if they do they might have an old one that doesn’t really work and came as a free gift from a bottle store.

There are some really cute bottle openers out there that make can actually make this a really special gift. I personally love this one from Kikki K because it is understated and still fun, but there’s also this really cute penguin one that I thought would be a funny gift (perfect for Secret Santa too). If you are looking to spend a little more, I also love this one from Alessi that is shaped like a parrot. Plus it’s Italian so you know it is a good gift!

The gift of being able to read about and drink wine

Via Booktopia

Price: varies

Perfect for: Your wine obsessed friend

This had to go on my list because there are a couple of wine-related books on my own Christmas list this year! There are heaps of wine books out there so it can be hard to know which ones to buy. I’ve found three which I think would make perfect gifts! They are the sort of books that have the dual benefit of being interesting but also looking great on a coffee table. Fact: A person with a nice wine book on their coffee table on it looks exponentially more cultured and sophisticated.

The first book is one that I really want to get, and will probably end up buying myself. It’s the Wine Folly book, and basically houses all the information you need to know about wine using pretty pictures and diagrams. I don’t think there could be a more fun, accessible way to explain wine than that! It retails around $45-$70 so is a book for the special wine lover in your life. There are a couple of versions of this, but the one I’ve picked looks like a bible which I think adds a little extra something.

The other book that I have my eye on is Where to Drink Wine. This looks like the makings of my lifelong bucket list all encased in a beautiful book that would look great on a coffee table. I just want to open it, read it cover to cover and start booking flights! Although maybe not as practical as the Wine Folly book, it looks like a great read and would definitely inspire someone who loves wine and travel for their next few trips!

A Sippy Cup for your wine so you can literally drink anywhere

Via Travino

Price: $15-$35

Perfect for: the picnic fan

I had to put this on the list because I have one of these myself and I get a lot of comments about it when I pull it out at a picnic. For a novelty gift, the wine sippy cup is actually one of the most useful things we have. I don’t mean to sound ridiculous, it’s true! I use it all the time when we are out and about with friends. It solves the age-old problem of wanting to have wine at a picnic but not having anything to balance a wine glass on. You don’t need to worry about spills, and you still get your wine in a wine glass!

The one we have is the Travino Wine Sippy Cup which comes in a number of different colours. I can attest to this being spill proof, and it also makes for a good laugh at the party, along with some envy. If you want the next level up, you can opt for the Stemless tumbler which is not only insulated to keep your wine cool, but it also comes in a variety of colours including Unicorn Sparklings. I think I’m sold!

A mug that appropriately shows their love of wine

CynthiaF via Society6 / Via society6.com

Price: $12-$18

Perfect for: Coffee and tea lovers who also love wine

Society6 is a time sink for me because I spend so much time trawling it. It has the best designs, and I spend hours looking through everything to find the perfect print/phone case/anything else I can. The great thing about it is that it is so well priced, and they usually have great sales. You can get the best range of art for awesome prices, and there really is something for everyone.

They have so much great wine-themed art here, it is hard to choose. But for Christmas, especially office Secret Santa gifts, they have some great mugs which would make for perfect gifts. These mugs allow you to wear your heart on your sleeve so that everyone knows when you are drinking that coffee you really wish it was wine. These mugs are great for the novelty factor, although some are not safe for work! My personal favourite is probably best suited to a gift for the home, but for other options, I also loved this one and this one.  The best thing about Society6 is that if they aren’t a coffee or tea drinker, you can get the same design on pretty much anything else!

Repurposed wine bottles that smell great

Via Rewined Candles

Price: $28

Perfect for: Candle lovers

I had to put these on the list because I’ve seen them around and always kicked myself for not buying one.  I don’t know where to start with these ones. Not only are they a wine themed candle, but they are actually made out of wine bottles! It’s such a clever idea, one I wish I’d thought of to make use of all those wine bottles that go into my recycling.

The great thing about this gift is that you can get the receiver’s favourite wine, and they’ll have a candle that mimics its scent. It’s a great gift with a bit of a personal touch and something that’s a bit more memorable than just your regular candle!

A wine rack to help them store their wine

Via Freedom

Price: $$-$$$

Perfect for: The wine collector

My final recommendation is on the list because it is actually something that I bought as a gift this year. A wine rack is a perfect gift for someone who loves wine but doesn’t have a lot of space to store it. You’d be surprised how quickly you need a wine rack in a place like an apartment if you’re buying a couple of bottles at a time! Also, a wine rack isn’t the sort of thing you usually think to buy yourself, or if you do you usually end up with some really practical and not so pretty one.

There are a number of wine racks you can pick up for quite a good price that is perfect for the budding wine collector, and they don’t take up much space either! I love this modular one because it compacts down and so is easy to send off with interstate relatives, or in the post. They can also add to it as their wine collection grows!

If you want to opt for something more artistic, you could go with something like this Alessi one, or this one from Freedom which is a nice gold. There is also this lovely wooden one that holds a couple more bottles! You could really go on and on with this gift, that’s the beauty of it. And if you know they need one, it’s a great practical option.

The final word

So there you have it – my top 10 wine gifts. There are definitely so many options out there, and this is what makes it so overwhelming! But hopefully, this gives you some inspiration for those last minute gifts for the wine lover in your life! Let me know in the comments below if you have any go-to gifts that I’ve missed!
