Organic Rose means it’s good for you, right?

by The Cheeky Vino

This week I wanted to review a beautiful wine that I’ve been meaning to try for a while and I finally have. Reasons for trying are mainly due to the pretty label, not going to lie. I feel like half of the reason I try new wines is because I’m drawn to the label, so why stop now? That being said I have definitely been seeing this brand around more and more lately.

I always find it quite difficult to pick a Rose, as I know that I like ones that are not too sweet, and I feel I’m not familiar enough with the varieties to choose. I find what I usually end up picking tends to be nice, so I must be gravitating towards the ones I like based on my wine radar. Or it’s just the labels! Guess I will have to try more Roses to learn what I really like.

Organic Rose? Yes please

The wine I wanted to review this week is the Spring Seed Wine Co Morning Bride Rose 2017. The Spring Seed Wine Co has been popping up more and more, and is stocked in both of my local bottle shops. I’ve been eyeing the brand off for a while. They have a number of varieties on offer, but this week I was in the market for a Rose.

The main reason was I felt like trying out an Organic wine and I figured it was a good opportunity to try! I felt the price point was also quite good for Organic wine, and loved the floral label. It is also from McLaren Vale which I haven’t visited yet but is definitely on my wine region bucket list.

Why I loved it

This wine is made on Shiraz grapes which give it a unique flavour for a Rose. I found it to be a lot stronger in flavour than a typical Rose. This meant that you could easily enjoy it into the evening, unlike some of the lighter varieties. The smell of it was quite sweet, sort of like berries. It also had a little bit of spiciness to it, but the taste wasn’t quite as sweet as the smell. Normally I wouldn’t go for a sweeter wine but the stronger acidity balanced it.

What to enjoy it with

I know I keep recommending wines that go well with cheese, but this one really does. This one definitely pairs best with a nice cheddar. But it would also go well with a really light summery meal such as a salad. I think its best though with a board of cheese though. That, and a nice sunset with a dose of relaxation with friends.
