It’s no secret I’m Rosé obsessed, but when it has a great label I really fall head over heels. I’ve really been enjoying working my way through the samples (read my review of their Shiraz here) from Orbis Wines and the Orbis Tempranillo Rosé 2021 really knocked my socks off.
Orbis Wines was established in 2018 by Brad Moyes and Kendall Grey. They wanted to pursue the sustainable production of healthy, living wines. They believe the best result is achieved through taking a long term view. So they collaborate and recognise everyone that contributes to the wine.
This is where the symbolism behind their labels come in which depict the mythical creature called the Ouroboros. It symbolises a perpetual, self-sufficient system that does not impact outside of itself.
The Orbis Tempranillo Rosé 2021 uses 100% hand-picked fruit from their estate vineyard and was whole bunch pressed and fermented with 6 months of lees contact.
I really enjoyed the texture and flavour of this wine. It’s honestly perfect for sipping on with food making it a great wine for warm weather. The Orbis Tempranillo Rosé 2021 has a vibrant colour and beautiful notes of quince and lychee on the nose. On the palate, these flavours followed through. But they were balanced by a nice savoury note along with a hint of brioche. It’s complex yet balanced and the kind of wine you keep going back to as you continue unpacking it sip after sip.
This wine retails at $30 a bottle and is available via Orbis Wines or speciality retailers.
