You’ll enjoy it if: You like your Sparkling wine not too dry
The Jansz Premium Cuvée is a classic for a reason. It’s soft, well-balanced and goes down all too easy. Fancy enough to cater to a celebration, but also at a good enough price point that you don’t really need any excuse. It’s a Sparkling Wine that is perfect for enjoying an afternoon or before dinner. I mean you could even enjoy it with brunch if you’re feeling fancy!
Sometimes I get so caught up in trying different and new wines that I forget about the classics. I’m always grabbing bottles that are from a different region, a different variety or, let’s be honest, have an unusual label. But sometimes it’s good to revisit those old favourites that are just plain delicious. The Jansz Premium Cuvée is one of these sparkling wines!
The Jansz Premium Cuvée is a classic
I’ll be honest. It was a Friday night and we wanted some Sparkling Wine to have before dinner. We were celebrating as my partner’s brother and sister in law had just had their first child. We stopped in at the bottle shop on the way back from the hospital and my partner’s cousin insisted on grabbing a bottle of wine. I would have personally been ok with a Prosecco, but she wanted the Jansz Premium Cuvée, and who am I to deny her of this delicious Sparkling Wine? So really it was just luck that I was at the right place at the right time and got to try this wine again, but I am really glad I did!
The Jansz Premium Cuvée is from Tasmania in Australia. It is Tasmania’s first sparkling made using the traditional method heroed by Champagne in France. The cool climate in Tasmania is perfect for Sparkling Wine production, so you are in for a treat with this wine!
Why I loved it
I’m having trouble writing tasting notes for this wine because it was just plain delicious. I’m usually a Prosecco lover, but this wine blew me away and reminded me that I should be embracing Australian wines more often!
The Jansz Premium Cuvée is so soft and well-balanced, it is like drinking a cloud. You get meringue and iced pastries with a hint of citrus on the nose, and if that doesn’t make your mouth water I don’t know what will! The taste is oh so creamy with notes of almond, honey and a hint of green apple from the Chardonnay base.
The wine has a good length with a really nice balance of acidity. It is refreshing without being too dry, and soft, but not too soft.
So why do I love this wine? It is oh so easy to drink, absolutely delicious to enjoy, and not bad in terms of price point. Sure, it is a little more expensive than other wines, but the complex and balanced flavours make it worthwhile. You can see why this is such a staple of Australian wine!
What to enjoy it with
We enjoyed the Jansz Premium Cuvée before dinner with a couple of snacks. I think the complexity of this wine really lends itself to a pre-dinner drink. You can sip and enjoy without having to worry about balancing any flavours with it. Trust me, this wine sings on its own! It makes for the perfect celebratory drink with friends.
If you are wanting to pair it with some food, I suggest something like a cheese board. Creamy brie and salami will go well. Otherwise, seafood would be a perfect match if you are keen on some dinner!
The final word on the Jansz Premium Cuvée
The Jansz Premium Cuvée completely blew me away and reminded me why I should be drinking more Australian wine. I love my Prosecco, but it is really nice to have something completely different once in a while. For the flavours of this wine, it is actually a really good price. And because it is so well known, you can often find it on sale!
If you’re after a Sparkling Wine that is deliciously balanced, soft and toasty, look no further than this wine. It is perfect for celebrating with friends, enjoying a drink before dinner or just simply enjoying with some good cheese. Whatever it is, you’ll find this Sparkling Wine goes down all too easy!
