It’s no secret that I am Rosé obsessed, but I haven’t posted about any pink-hued wines for a while! But never fear, this Rosé drought is well and truly over – starting with this delicious new release from Brokenwood: the Brokenwood Rosato 2021.
We visited Brokenwood when we were in the Hunter Valley a few years ago and I loved their Rosé when we tried it then, so I was really excited to give the new vintage a go! Side note, when lockdowns ease Brokenwood is definitely worth a visit for their outstanding cellar door!
The Brokenwood Rosato 2021 is a blend of predominately Sangiovese and Nebbiolo which is why they’ve named it after Italy’s Rosé counterpart. The style is a classic European style that has a fruity front and a dry finish.
Flavour-wise this wine seriously delivered. I loved the aromas of floral that came through so strongly in this wine, as well as a hint of rose water. On the palate, I loved the addition of spice and its crisp and refreshing finish. This wine will be perfect for enjoying as the weather warms up or if you want to feel like you’re in Summer in cold weather! I reckon this wine might just transport you to the Italian coast.
For food pairings, the Brokenwood Rosato 2021 is perfect with antipasti. Think cured meats, cheeses, olives and breadsticks. Why have an Aperol Spritz when you can have this refreshing Rosato?
This wine retails at $30 a bottle and is available from Brokenwood directly. Visit their website to find out more.
