The Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé is perfect for sipping on a summer day. No need for food – this wine goes down smooth and is oh so easy to drink. With a great balance of fruity flavours and a hit of dry acidity, you won’t have any trouble polishing this off before dinner! 

With the reality of spending so much time at home, I was relieved when my next box for the My Favourites Rosé Reservation subscription arrived from Cellarmasters. This is the second time I’ve received the box, and I was so excited because the last one was full of absolutely delicious wines! This box couldn’t have arrived at a better time as I was just running out of Rosé (a terrible problem to have I know) so I was ecstatic to give these new wines a try.

I’ve always had a love for French Rosé, but I’ve recently been trying and loving more and more wines from Australia. There is so much variety in flavour from different grapes, regions and winemaking. It means that there is so much to explore! The Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé was no different, and it actually blew me away. It was so easy drinking I couldn’t believe my luck. Opening it on a Saturday afternoon in front of a movie was the perfect way to spend another weekend at home. If you like a nice Rosé for a day drinking session like me, then this one will be right up your alley!

It was hard deciding which wine I would sample first, but I decided to try the Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé on a Saturday in front of a movie. I made some popcorn and cracked open the bottle, settling in for an afternoon on the couch. I have to say this is something I’d normally never allow myself the time to do, but I was so glad I did! And this wine made it all the better – I mean it’s better than going to the cinema! Popcorn, wine and a comfy couch – yes please!

Why I loved it

The Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé 2019 is so easy drinking and just plain delicious. On the nose you’ll get floral notes and ripe berries – think strawberry and a hint of raspberry. This along with the colour of the wine did remind me of Provence Rosé – so if this is your jam, like me, you’re in for a treat!

What I really loved about this wine was the flavour. It was really nicely balanced between being juicy and flavoursome and having a nice dry finish. It made the wine so easy to drink and really smooth on the palate. This makes it the perfect wine for enjoying with or without food as it isn’t a heavy style Rosé. Some I find can be a little overpowering in their flavours, but this was nice and light.

So if you are in the mood for something that you don’t need to pair with food, or have an excuse to open, this would definitely be my pick! It’s delicious, goes down easy, and is fruity but dry. Perfect for warmer days, or sipping in the afternoon before dinner.

What to enjoy it with

The Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé 2019 doesn’t need to be paired with food. It is a nice light style wine and is easily enjoyed on a warmer day or without food as a pre-dinner drink. You don’t really need an excuse to open this one really – just pour yourself a glass and enjoy!

If you do want to pair it with food, make sure it is something light. A simple summer salad, some cured meats or light fish meals would go perfectly with this wine. I can also recommend popcorn too!

The Black Wattle Regional Selection Limestone Coast Rosé 2019 is a great example of the killer wines coming out of Australia at the moment! This wine was easy drinking, smooth and perfect with or without food. It’s the perfect companion for sipping during the day, although I can’t guarantee it will last long! Wine this good is often gone before you know it, but luckily with the Cellarmasters My Favourite Rosé Reservation, we’ve got a few on hand!
