Last weekend I was lucky enough to try a beautiful Organic Rosé, and I loved it so much I wanted to share it with you all. I got it as part of a box from Vineful (read my full write up of this service here). I loved all three wines but this was definitely a highlight. As the weather gets warmer now that Spring has sprung (and it’s now 30 degrees in Brisbane), I am keen to get stuck into Rosé season. And this Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018 is one I can imagine sipping over a nice lunch to cool down!
I’ve had a few Organic Rosés and not loved them. I’m not sure why this is but is probably not so much that they have been Organic but more that they are just not my style. They were a little too rich and concentrated for my tastes, which is something you run into with all Rosé. They can’t all be Provence style after all. But this wine was definitely up my alley, making me dream of warm summer days once more.
Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018 is perfect for spring
The Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018 was a wine I opened up with a few friends at a baby shower. It wasn’t that tame of a baby shower, so I don’t want you thinking we were sipping on this while eating delicate sandwiches. Realistically, we were enjoying this wine while blind tasting baby food (not my favourite blind tasting by far), and trying to change nappies blind folded. It was a fun evening, but I definitely was glad I had some decent wine to go along with it!
I wanted to share this wine with one of my friends who likes to drink Organic wine, but doesn’t tend to drink Rosé. Rather than opening up a red, I thought I’d get her to try something new. I am pleased to say she enjoyed it – so looks like I might have got another friend on the bandwagon!
The Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018 is from the Monash Valley in South Australia. I haven’t really had many wines from here before, but you all know I’m having a moment with South Australia in general, so I was all about it. Riverland is also part of this region and I’ve been loving wines from this area, so I was excited to give this wine a go.
Why I loved it
I’ll start with the visuals because this was what drew me towards the Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018. It has a beautiful light salmon colour which reminded me of the wines of Provence. That’s the perfect start in my books! Then there was the label which I found really visually striking, making the wine stand out. If you are a sucker for labels like me, you’ll probably be drawn to it just as I was, especially because of the gold finish!
The Best of Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018 is a beautifully balanced wine. You’ll get hints of black currant, raspberry and florals, followed by subtle clove and cedar. I really enjoyed the freshness of this wine. It really cut through any sweetness from the fruit flavours. It had a good kick of acidity at the end to give it a classic dryness that refreshes the palate and leaves you wanting another glass.
So in short: this wine is super drinkable, dry style yet with just enough fruit. You’ll love it if you enjoy a dry Rosé. But you’ll also love it if you prefer something a little fruity. It is easy going, and something everyone will want a glass of!
What to pair it with
Look, I’ll be honest, baby food was not the best pairing for this wine. But I have to say, drinking it with good company was. You really don’t need any food along with this wine, and it would really lend itself to a nice summer afternoon enjoying the sunshine.
However, if you want something more substantial, make sure you keep it light. Think a nice cheese and meat platter, fish or chicken. Nothing with a heavy sauce, as the wine is so balanced it doesn’t need much.
Personally? If I had another bottle of the Best of the Both Worlds Organic Rosé 2018, I’d make an epic cheese platter, sit on my balcony and watch the world go by.
