As summer is drawing nearer I feel like Rosé is becoming one of my primary food groups, and I’m totally ok with it! I find myself craving a glass of salmon coloured wine to take a beat from the heat of Brisbane all too often, and so I’ve been seeking out more wines to add to my ever-growing roster!
I’ve had my eye on the wines from Bailey Wine Co for quite some time, and I finally got a chance to sample a few (thank you!). If you haven’t seen these wines before, they are seriously eye catching. I love a good label, and these bright coloured wines captured my heart instantly. Nothing like bright colours to brighten your day! When I got the wines it was no question which one I was going to crack into first. The Bailey Wine Co 2019 Mount Gambier Rosé was calling my name!

Why I loved the Bailey Wine Co 2019 Mount Gambier Rosé
The Bailey Wine Co 2019 Mount Gambier Rosé is a seriously delicious wine at such a good price. It is a Provence style which is one of my favourite styles of Rosé, but made using Pinot Noir instead of the usual blend. This brings different flavours to the wine and I think it also gave it a little more oomph, making it a great option for pairing with food.
This wine is a pretty salmon hue in the glass, reminding me of where I’d rather be (aka sipping wine like this on the French Riviera…a girl can dream). Something about wines this colour make me so happy, and go oh so well with summer. On the nose, I got a hit of strawberries as well as a hint of citrus. This wine carried these flavours into the palate where I also got a hint of cranberries.
This wine has a great balance with a hit of fruity flavours which are cleaned up by a beautifully refreshing crisp acidity. It leaves you wanting sip after sip, making it all too easy to drink. This wine is the sort of wine I can see myself enjoying with friends over summer without thinking too much about it. You may polish off the bottle a little too quickly but you’ll have a seriously great time doing it!
What to pair it with
The Bailey Wine Co 2019 Mount Gambier Rosé is a perfect summer wine. Enjoy it in the afternoon before dinner or equally over a picnic lunch. There’s enough flavour in it to be enjoyed with food, but is light enough to go with an afternoon drink.
Personally I can’t think of any better pairing than a nice picnic with friends. Think cheese, dips and antipasti along with this wine would be heaven. However, if you want to pair it with something substantial, opt for light summer meals such as seafood or chicken salad.
