This sparkling was so good, I couldn’t keep it to myself! I’m also proud of myself for branching out once again from my prosecco loving nature this time to try to French sparkling, so I had to share this one with you all as proof, and because it was so good. I guess because it is a sparkling rose it’s different…right?
Branching out…all the way to France
Having visited our local bottle shop on the hunt for a nice sparkling to enjoy with a friend last Saturday, I decided on the Rivarose Sparkling Rose. Why? Well, the price was better than the proseccos they had on offer, at least the ones I hadn’t tried, and I loved the salmon pink colour, as well as the bottle. It seems that my punt on something new really paid off, because this was a treat of a sparkling!
Now that I’ve had a look at it, I’ve also managed to choose a French wine from a region that we will be visiting in June when we go to Provence! It turns out that this winery is the largest producer of sparkling wines in the region, so I think we will have to pay a visit to sample their other wines. I can’t believe out of all the wines in the shop I managed to pick one that we can visit come June! I’m afraid my knowledge of French wine isn’t too good, so I really need to get some solid research in between now and then. I guess that will mean buying some more wine in the name of learning…what a shame!
What I loved about it
So back to this delicious sparkling. It is made with Syrah grapes which give it the salmon colour, but don’t be fooled, this wine is no moscato! The wine has grenache in it which is where the punch of flavour comes from that I’ve found with this sparkling. There is also a light fruity note to it, but it definitely is not overpoweringly sweet. This wine was a nice, light sparkling without too much dryness either. Just a lot of yummy flavours that make it feel like you are drinking summer! Although it was raining when we drunk this, it definitely lifted the spirits and was a great addition to watching the sunset on a Saturday afternoon!
What to enjoy it with
This wine is a great price for something so delicious and a wine from France, so I would highly recommend it for your everyday sparkling. It would pair perfectly with fish or a light salad. We enjoyed this one with a cheese platter, and it was absolutely delicious when paired with harder cheeses such as a cheddar, as it cuts through the sharpness. Really you could have this Sparkling Rose on its own and just enjoy the sweet tastes of summer in Provence. I’m not sure exactly what that tastes like, but I’m sure you’ll find it in this bottle.
