No, No? More like Yes, Yes with the 2022 Barossa Wine Cartel No, No Rosé.
Now I am not normally one to be into non-alcoholic wines. I’ve tried a few but to be honest I haven’t needed to seek them out quite yet. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is fantastic that there are so many options on the market for non-alcoholic wines now as they are great for those trying to cut back or who can’t drink at the moment.
So I haven’t been trying too many, but I did make an exception when the team from Barossa Wine Cartel sent me their 2022 Barossa Wine Cartel No, No Rosé which is fresh off the press (literally?). And I have to say, this was a seriously tasty drop.
Barossa Wine Cartel was started by Josh and Ellen. Josh graduated back in 2007 and did a handful of vintages at Peter Lehmann’s, Yalumba and Two Hands. He then worked on the winemaking team at Henschke for 5 years where he grew to love Organic and Biodynamic wine. In 2013 he took over his family’s winery, Whistler, and after 7 years he started his own label.
The 2022 Barossa Wine Cartel No, No Rosé was made using Riesling and Chardonnay, some Adelaide Hills cherry juice for colour, flavour and tannin, and Murray River salt to add weight to the palate and dull down the sweetness and Adelaide Hills slightly sparkling spring water for a hint of spritz.
They must have done some sort of wizardry to this bottle in the process of concocting it because this non-alcoholic wine is really tasty. On the nose, it is packed full of fruit: strawberries, raspberries, and watermelon. This follows through to the palate which has the right amount of acidity to balance out the initial sweetness and a hint of creaminess. It just works!
They recommend enjoying this wine with soda water and I completely agree! What a refreshing beverage perfect for conjuring up feelings of Summer.
The 2022 Barossa Wine Cartel No, No Rosé is $20 a bottle and is available from the BWC website.
