Have you tried Sicilian wine before? I haven’t had much of it so I was so excited to try the VURRIA Rosato di Nerello Mascalese IGP Terre Siciliane Rosato from Di Giovanna Wines. I’ve never had a Sicilian Rosato before so it was great to try one.
The winery is on a 5th generation family property in the mountainside of Monte Genuardo, a protected nature reserve. Organic vineyards surround the winery in the zones of western Sicily’s Sambuca di Sicilia and Contessa Entellina.
The VURRIA Rosato di Nerello Mascalese IGP Terre Siciliane from Di Giovanna wines is made using 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes which I have never tried before. The wine is an IGP Terre Siciliane, and the wine is Certified Organic and Vegan Friendly too!
I really enjoyed this wine as it was fresh and balanced. The wine itself was as vibrant as the colour in the bottle. On the nose, I got a hit of floral along with citrus and a hint of herbs. In the glass, I got a hint of strawberries along with a touch of minerality that rounded off that fruit. The palate was super fresh but the flavours lingered long after you took a sip. I loved how elegant and balanced this Rosato was but still complex.
Because the VURRIA Rosato di Nerello Mascalese IGP Terre Siciliane from Di Giovanna wine has a bit of weight to it, although not too much, it makes it a great food wine and perfect for these last warmer days! Grilled pork or fish would be a great pairing or even Asian cuisine like a fresh salad or sushi.
