Do you love a good Viognier? Well, have I got one that should be on your radar. Or, if you haven’t tried Viognier, might I suggest starting with this one from Turners Crossing – the Turners Crossing Viognier 2018.
Turners Crossing is located in Bendigo in Victoria and started in 2002. Since then they’ve been producing outstanding wines speaking to the sense of place by the Loddon River. The vineyard is virtually pesticide and chemical free and warm days and cool nights provide ideal growing conditions.
The Turners Crossing Viognier 2018 is a beautiful Viognier that has seen time in both barrel and stainless steel giving it a great mouthfeel along with a long, subtle finish. I got a hit of peaches from this wine along with a hint of floral. On the palate, these flavours came through along with a lovely crispness. I loved how dry and refreshing this wine was on the palate, it balanced out the fruitiness well. At only $24 a bottle it’s a great price for a delicious wine!
For a food pairing I don’t think you could go past Asian food and this wine. It would really lend itself to the spice of Asian cuisine, or even seafood. Whatever you pair it with, this medium-bodied wine is made for pairing with a good meal.
