- First impression: Great balanced flavour
- You’ll enjoy it if: You don’t like your Rosé too sweet
I was a bit worried I might not be able to post this week as I hadn’t really had any wines that absolutely wowed me. If I’m being honest, I’ve been having whatever I can get my hands on to get me through puppy parenting! So as much as I had the best of intentions coming into the new year of being healthy, the lack of sleep and always needing to be on has meant I’ve resorted to a bit of a sneaky vino or two during the week, so I can handle the little ball of energy I have on my hands!
On Wednesday night I had every intention of not drinking, but my partner came out of our wine room with a Rosé and I have zero will power this week, so I simply had to partake. It ended up being so good that we finished off the whole bottle…whoops. I mean it could have been the sleep deprivation, but I do think it was more to do with how delicious and refreshing this wine was! And who doesn’t love a good Rosé ? I am a firm believer that Rosé is great at any time of day, even with dinner (some people I have spoken to think it is a day time thing…but why stop yourself from having delicious wine because of some rule I ask you?), and this one is no exception.
Another cracker from the Good Food and Wine show
We got this bottle when we went to the Good Food and Wine Show, and I have to be completely honest with you, but the time we got to the Elderton stall, we were a few wine tastings in and in quite good spirits. By that point there weren’t many wines that I didn’t absolutely love, but I have to say the wines from this producer were particularly fantastic. We ended up buying a few bottles of their red, and also the Rose because it was so good.
Why I loved it
Don’t be fooled by the 2017 label on this Barossa Rose from Elderton wines. It is so well balanced in its flavours, and absolutely drinkable. We can attest to that with the proof of how easily we finished off a whole bottle between us. I love that it is a perfect balance between being too sweet or too dry. You definitely get some dryness in the flavour, but it is balanced out by subtle sweetness. It is absolutely delicious, and because of this balance would go so well with most lighter, summer foods. I would also love this for a casual afternoon drink, as it stands so well on its own!
Final verdict
The great thing about this wine is that you don’t need to age it, you can drink it now and enjoy all the zesty goodness that this wine brings! Don’t feel the least bit guilty for having it right now, it is seriously good! And it definitely helped me through another evening of puppy craziness! If that isn’t a glowing review, I don’t know what is!
