Have you tried English Sparkling Wine before? I never had as it isn’t very common here in Australia. But when I got the opportunity to sample this new English Sparkling Wine from Louis Pommery I leapt at the opportunity! The Louis Pommery Brut England NV has just been released in Australia which is so exciting for lovers of bubbles who want to try something different!
If Pommery sounds familiar to you, it might be because they are a very famous Champagne house. In fact, when we visited Champagne we visited Pommery ourselves! I absolutely love their Champagne, so I was sure this Sparkling Wine would deliver. And deliver it did!
Louis Pommery England is produced from vineyards in southern England near Hampshire. The same vein of chalk that runs through Champagne is mirrored here so offers a perfect spot for producing bubbles.
The Louis Pommery Brut England NV blends mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a hint of Pinot Meunier using the traditional method. This wine seriously delivered in flavour – I got green apple along with fresh acidity from lemon and lime. This was paired with a hint of honey and creaminess on the palate which balanced out that fresh front. I loved the length in this wine too – it was the kind of wine that really delivered on all fronts!
This sparkling would be perfect for enjoying on its own or with your classic pairings for Champagne. Think oysters, salmon, runny cheese (hello friend) or even some fries! It would be perfect for celebrating and would also make a great gift.
This wine can be purchased via Qantas Wine, Vintage Cellars, Dan Murphy’s online and boutique bottle stores. If you want to try something different check it out now!
