This week I wanted to review another great wine from Naked Wines. I will start this off by saying that they are definitely not paying me for any promotion (at the moment, I mean if a Naked Wines rep reads this and wants to pay me in delicious wines, I am not one to say no to free wine), but their wines are so consistently good that I find I am often reviewing them. I am also lucky enough to enjoy them without being an actual member! My partner is an ‘Angel’ and so is one of my good friends, and so I get to enjoy many of the wines from my partners deliveries, and when my friend comes over.

This particular occasion was one where my friend brought over a bottle for a girls night. We decided to have some wine and cheese on a Sunday afternoon, and I have to say the sparkling I am reviewing this week went perfectly. I am always one for a good sparkling for any occasion, but I think the pinnacle of my enjoyment comes from having it with my best girl friends. Nothing beats enjoying a glass or two of a good sparkling with a delicious cheese plate among friends. It’s the perfect way to end a weekend! I find sparkling goes so well of an afternoon before having some dinner and moving to something heavier, so I am always pairing it with cheese and snacks. I guess this isn’t the worst thing, right?

The LTD

The sparkling that I was lucky enough to enjoy was the LTD Blanc de Blanc NV. This came in a classic Naked Wines mixed delivery, but you can also buy it just on its own off their website. I love how Naked Wines supports smaller producers that have amazing wine that you would normally not get to try from your local bottle shop. It’s here that you find gems like this sparkling that are great drinking wines for any occasion. These wines are always so drinkable and affordable that you don’t think twice about opening a bottle when you have someone around.

Why I loved it

This sparkling was the perfect blend of dry and sweet. I found it wasn’t as punchy as some of the proseccos that I’ve tried, but I liked that it was much lighter on the palate, and more neutral in its flavour. For this reason as well I found this wine really refreshing and just plain delicious. It is a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauv Blanc, and I think these blend really well together in this sparkling to bring a great balance. The only problem I had with it was that it was a bit too drinkable, and as I wasn’t having to drive, I enjoyed a couple of glasses of this all too quickly. If only we had another bottle of this to enjoy, or maybe that would have been a little too dangerous on a Sunday night!

What to enjoy it with

This sparkling was perfect before dinner with some cheese (I felt it went really well with hard cheese), but it would also be perfect with a lighter meal such as a salad. It would be a great lunch time sparkling as well if you wanted to add a little bubble to your meal as it was nice and light. Perfect to start an evening with as it is so neutral and refreshing.

Final Verdict

In short, enjoy this sparkling with friends just because. This isn’t the fanciest bottle of sparkling, but that means you don’t have to wait for a special occasion to enjoy it!
