Wine review: Corryton Burge Sparkling Red
I’m getting into the festive spirit now that we are in December. Our Christmas tree is already up, the Christmas movies are on, and I’m looking for festive wine. And there arguably isn’t anything more festive than Sparkling Red, especially here in Australia where our Christmas is hot! Sparkling Red goes perfectly with so many different Christmas dishes, and with its beautiful flavours, it feels like Christmas in a glass. So this week I wanted to share a Sparkling Red I was recently sent to try: the Corryton Burge Sparkling Red. A blend of Barossa Cabernet, Shiraz and Grenache, this wine is delicious and sure to bring the festive cheer.
On the nose, the Corryton Burge Sparkling Red is lovely and aromatic with ripe blackberries and cherries alongside a hint of spices. The palate is juicy with fruity notes of blackberry and plum alongside baking spice, dark chocolate and vanilla. These flavours play together beautifully, and zippy, juicy notes are nicely balanced by the nicely integrated tannins and a creamy texture. The wine is deep and complex with plenty to unpack and simply delicious to drink. Pair it with Christmas ham, roast turkey or even Christmas desserts and you have a winner for the festive season.
About Corryton Burge

With a legacy spanning six generations, the Burge family traces its beginnings back to 1855, when John and Eliza Burge arrived from England. Initially producing fortified wines sold door-to-door, the family has evolved into a prominent name in Australian winemaking, cultivating over 300 hectares of vineyards across South Australia. Today, Trent and Amelia Burge continue this legacy, committed to honouring their ancestors’ traditions while innovating for the future. Corryton Burge stands as a testament to the enduring bond between family, history, and the art of crafting exceptional wines.
