The Cloak and Dagger Rosé 2021 is at home as much before dinner as it is at a BBQ with friends. It is dry and savoury yet oh so refreshing with notes of peach and strawberry. It has enough weight to be enjoyed with or without food, but is seriously approachable too! It’s the kind of wine that makes for a great summer staple.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve reviewed a Rosé, and have I got one for you. The Cloak and Dagger Rosé 2021 is sure to be a summer staple whether you want to enjoy it on its own or with food. It truly is the best of both worlds, and at a price tag that means you don’t need to think twice about opening a bottle with friends, or in front of Netflix and a terrible (amazing) Christmas movie.
About Cloak and Dagger
Cloak and Dagger is one of the projects of Wine Unplugged which was started by Nina Stocker and Callie Jemmeson. Winemakers, mums, foodies and friends, Wine Unplugged is a creative outlet and small unconventional wine business.
After years of travelling the world making wine, Nina and Callie wanted to create a business that meant they could do what they love whilst having a family. They believe that winemaking doesn’t have to have barriers but does need quality, focus and destination.
Their projects have no boundaries other than producing high quality, affordable wines without stuffiness. Wines for sharing with friends and family, that are delicious and drinkable.
Cloak and Dagger started in the 2016 vintage and they make only four wines under the label, so it is a really focused approach.
What I loved about the Cloak and Dagger Rosé
The Cloak and Dagger Rosé 2021 is the perfect wine for summer sipping that has a place at the dinner table as much as an afternoon wine down. It is refreshing and vibrant and packed full of flavour. For this price, I was impressed by how much complexity there was to unpack, yet the wine remains totally refreshing and easy-drinking.
In the glass it has an eye-catching bright pink colour and aromas of strawberry and raspberries. This pulls through into the palate which has a delicious savoury note along with fleshy peach. The palate is finished with crisp acidity making this wine oh so refreshing. It has enough oomph to balance out sweetness, and enough sweetness and acidity to make it seriously refreshing. I loved this savoury and dry style of wine that made it nice and moreish.
What to enjoy it with
The Cloak and Dagger Rosé 2021 has enough weight to it and savoury notes that make it perfect for enjoying with or without food. I can imagine this wine being perfect for a BBQ with friends. Whether you crack it open before lunch, or with the meal, this wine is a great option. It is affordable and packed full of crowd-pleasing flavours.
Food pairing wise, this wine would be perfect with cured meats or something charred on the BBQ. Think spiced chicken, chorizo or seared seafood. Otherwise, just enjoy it before without anything at all!
In summary: Cloak and Dagger Rosé
The Cloak and Dagger Rosé 2021 is sure to be a summer staple. It’s affordable and easy-drinking, yet complex enough to be paired with food. As the weather heats up, finding a wine that can be enjoyed before dinner equally as much as with food is a winner. And we certainly are on to one with this wine!
