It’s not often you get to try a grape variety you haven’t tried before in two different styles! I am so lucky to have tried Brachetto for the first time thanks to Soumah Wines. First I tried it in a Tranquillo style of still wine, and then I got to try the sparkling version! The 2020 Brachetto Frizzante D’Soumah is a lovely gently sparkling wine. It has been made by stopping the fermentation before the wine was completely dry, allowing the natural sugars to shine through with a delicate sweetness.
This Sparkling wine is perfect for Summer sipping. Flavours of strawberry and a hint of citrus floral come together to give this slightly sweet wine a fresh finish. I haven’t tried many sweet wines before but I was once again surprised by how much I enjoyed this one!
We enjoyed this wine with a cheese plate and it brought the perfect amount of sweetness to match the cheeses. It was so nice to sip on this wine and enjoy an afternoon by the beach! If you are looking for other pairings, I suggest a fruit platter or even some lovely pastries. Croissants or a Danish and this wine? Absolute heaven!
