I love a bit of bubbles over the holidays, and this Taltarni Brut really hit the spot. We opened it while celebrating the end of the year and it was the perfect way to start the evening. I find a good sparkling wine always gets everyone into good spirits, and the Taltarni Brut 2015 is sure to be a crowd-pleaser!
I’ve always been a fan of Taltarni sparkling ever since I discovered their wines at a Good Food and Wine show many years ago. Now after trying their red wines this year I am a huge fan of all their wines! Their reds were some of the most memorable ones I had this year. However, their sparkling wines always nail it for me. I actually tried the 2014 of this wine and loved it, so I was excited to try the newest vintage!
Taltarni produces their wines using the traditional method, so it’s like enjoying Champagne without the price tag, and supporting the Aussie wine industry while you’re at it!
The Taltarni Brut 2015 is their flagship Sparkling Wine and it is easy to see why when you taste it. The wine is delicate and refined with a nice creaminess to the palate. You get some lovely toasty aromas of brioche and roasted nuts which pair beautifully with a citrus hit. The wine is nice and bright with a hit of acidity on the palate that is balanced out so well with a soft, creamy texture.
We enjoyed this wine with some cheese but honestly, you could enjoy it on its own. At only $26 a bottle, this wine is so affordable for how delicious it is! Who needs Champagne price tags when you’ve got Taltarni!
