Who loves a good Pinot Grigio? It’s certainly one of my white wines of choice, and so when I was sent the Tar & Roses Pinot Grigio 2021 I couldn’t wait to give it a go. So much so that I cracked it open on a Monday night after a weekend of wine tasting
I’ve been a big fan of Tar & Roses for quite some time. Actually one of the first Tempranillo’s I ever tried was from them and I still remember it to this day! The original Tar & Roses team of Don Lewis and Narelle King began their winemaking journey in Priorat, Spain, immersing themselves within the classic Mediterranean wine regions and varietals. This sparked an interest in how these varietals could be grown and made back home in their native regions of Central Victoria, Australia.
Now their wines reflect the regions of Spain, Italy and Australia, using fruit grown in Heathcote, Strathbogie Ranges, King Valley and Priorat, Spain.
I absolutely loved the Tar & Roses Pinot Grigio 2021. It has a beautiful colour in the glass which was almost slightly pink. It had a great aroma of pear, peach and a hint of citrus. This came through in the palate too which was nice and bright with fruit and a good hit of refreshing acidity. I loved how rich yet crisp this wine was, it had an elegance about it which was beautiful.
If you’re looking for a great white food wine this is going to be your new favourite! Pair it with salad, chicken or seafood.
