I am dreaming about the Easter long weekend – can it come any sooner? I can’t wait to be sipping on some wine with family, and to eat plenty of chocolate of course! With lockdown in Brisbane for the next few days, I have all my fingers and toes crossed that it will still go ahead and we won’t have to lock down over the Easter break. I hope you can all send some good vibes our way!
Whether we are in lockdown or not, thank goodness for wine. I can’t think of anything more perfect for Easter than some bubbles, and pink bubbles are even better! So I wanted to share this beautiful Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013 with you all to inspire you for the Easter long weekend. It’s a seriously delicious wine that ticked all the boxes for me, and really would be perfect for any occasion!
About Taltarni
I’ve always been a fan of Taltarni sparkling ever since I discovered their wines at a Good Food and Wine show many years ago. Now after trying their red wines this year I am a huge fan of all their wines! Their reds were some of the most memorable ones I had last year. However, their sparkling wines always nail it for me and this one is no different (their Blanc de Blancs has been a favourite of this year so far, read the review here)
Taltarni released their first wine in 1977 and had immediate award wins. They are located in the Pyrenees, a perfect spot for the production of high-quality grapes. The cool nights and warm days allow for the slow ripening of the grapes for perfect flavours.
Their winery is founded on the principles of individuality, independence and expression, combining old-world traditions with new-world techniques. The result? High quality red and white wines and traditional method sparklings for us to enjoy!
I’ve actually had this wine before in 2019, so it was lovely to revisit it and see how the wine had changed. It was even better than I remembered!
Why I loved the Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013
The Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013 is a beautiful sparkling at a really affordable price point. 2013 was an ideal growing season. The wine itself was made using the Traditional Method which means it underwent secondary fermentation in the bottle, giving the wine lovely toasty flavours that you usually find with Champagne. But without the price tag!
The wine has a lovely salmon colour and is really aromatic. I got toasty notes of bread crust and nuts with a splash of rose water. On the palate, there was a lovely hit of bright strawberry. This gave the wine a nice acidity that balanced out the creaminess in the Sparkling Wine. I loved how this wine filled the mouth but was also refreshing and crisp.
This wine is great for anyone looking for those classic Champagne flavours but without the price tag. Besides this, the wine is simply refreshing and enjoyable to drink, making it all too easy to polish off.
What to enjoy it with
The Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013 can easily be enjoyed with or without food. We enjoyed this wine with friends before we had dinner and it was perfect as a way to watch the sunset with friends. It was also a great start to the evening.
We paired the wine with a nice cheese platter and it was perfect. But you don’t need food to enjoy this wine. If you want to pair it with something, I suggest cheese or something light like grilled fish or chicken.
In summary: The Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013
The Taltarni Cuvee Rosé 2013 is a beautiful wine that is creamy and crisp all in one. This salmon coloured wine is aromatic and has all the flavours of traditional champagne without the price tag. This wine is perfect for celebrations or simply to enjoy before a meal.
