Wine review: Small Victories Pinot Gris 2022
There are certain grape varieties I don’t drink a lot of, but when I do I wonder why that is. I feel like this is the way often with Pinot Gris and Grigio which in my opinion is a seriously underrated food variety. It’s just a great all-rounder, and reliably delicious. This was something I was reminded of when I tried the Small Victories Pinot Gris 2022 which is simply delicious, and perfect for pairing with food. It has enough oomph of texture to make it great for pairing, but it is still nice and refreshing. It ticked all the boxes for me and I think it will for you too (plus the striking label is an added bonus).
On the nose, the Small Victories Pinot Gris 2022 has lovely notes of floral and lemon. These notes follow through into the palate which has a beautiful apple note alongside the lemon. The palate itself has a great weight and texture with plenty of vibrant flavours yet a nice textural finish. Zippy acidity makes this wine zesty and satisfying on the finish. This Pinot Gris is perfect for those who want a refreshing yet textural food wine. It simply ticks all the boxes.
