The Small Victories Pinot Gris 2021 is a simply delightful wine to enjoy. Flavours of peach, florals and custard apple come together into a vibrant wine that is both zesty and textural. It is the kind of wine that is perfect for enjoying in the sun with friends and a good cheeseboard. It oozes fun and good times and at an affordable price point it is sure to be in heavy rotation for Spring.
Now that the weather is warming up I’m looking for some delightful wines to bring in Spring. So when I was sent a few wines from Small Victories I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. The labels are so vibrant and colourful that I simply could not wait. And I have to tell you, the Pinot Gris seriously ticked all the boxes for me, so I can’t wait to try the other wines!
About Small Victories
Small Victories is about producing fun yet seriously delicious wines all hand-crafted by sisters-in-law Jules and Bec Ashmead. They work with grape growers across South Australia to select fruits to produce wines that are simply delicious and that are fun, fresh and modern. They are made for enjoying now and perfect for enjoying with friends.
A key part of Small Victories is giving back to the community with 50% of tasting fees at the Cellar Door donated to charity, and every wine purchase donating a portion of each bottle sold to Variety – the Children’s Charity and Trees for Life. They are also big on sustainability with all wines being vegan friendly, and all wines being produced at the Elderton Winery which has solar power across the production facilities and 100% of water from winemaking is recycled. Packaging is also environmentally friendly with lightweight bottles and 100% recycled cardboard used.
What I loved about the Small Victories Pinot Gris 2021
The Small Victories Pinot Gris 2021 is simply delightful to drink and the kind of wine you could happily enjoy without having to think too much about it. It is just tasty! The wine is nice and fresh with zesty notes and a vibrant palate, but a nice textural finish. I got notes of peach and custard apple along with a lovely floral aroma.
What I loved so much about this wine was the weight of it. It is a fresh and vibrant wine but it has just enough weight in the palate to give it a beautiful balance. The textural and dry finish lingers and really rounds out this taste sensation. For such an affordable wine I can seriously see myself enjoying this all spring and summer long!
What to enjoy it with
The Small Victories Pinot Gris 2021 can be enjoyed with or without food. The texture of this wine that really leant itself to being enjoyed with food. But you could just as easily enjoy it without and simply mull over the balanced deliciousness. Food pairing wise I don’t think you could go wrong with a good cheese platter. I could really picture this wine being perfect with a cheese platter and a picnic in the sun with friends. I don’t think it could get much better!

The Small Victories Pinot Gris 2021 is a simply delightful wine to enjoy. I can definitely see this becoming a staple wine in my Spring wine rotation. As the weather heats up I’m looking forward to enjoying some time in the sun with some friends. I can’t imagine a better accompaniment to this situation with this wine. Its vibrant yet textural palate is intriguing and simply tasty.
