Wine review: Save Our Souls Grenache 2022
I’ve really been enjoying Grenache lately, and the Save Our Souls Grenache 2022 really hit the spot for me. I’ve been a fan of Save Our Souls for a few years now (in fact we had their Rosé at our wedding), and so its so nice to revisit their wine through this beautiful Grenache. It’s a great variety for that time between autumn and winter when the temperature starts cooling down and the reds start coming out. It is juicy yet nicely balanced with a savoury palate. There is so much to unpack sip after sip, and it goes perfectly with roast lamb or even grilling meat on the barbeque.
On the nose, the Save Our Souls Grenache 2022 is packed full of aromas of plum, raspberry, cinnamon and pepper, along with a hint of Turkish delight. This bright fruit follows through into the palate which has a nice savoury profile. It’s beautifully balanced with plenty of complexity to unpack. It also has a lovely length and just the right amount of tannin. This beautiful Grenache is fresh and expressive and perfect for enjoying young, which means you don’t even need to wait to crack it open.
About Save Our Souls
After meeting in the vine rows of Bass Phillip, Jason and Bill realised they held common ideals for quality wine, hard work and a good laugh. In 2008 Save Our Souls was started. Their first release was a Rosé perfect for long, hot Australian summers. Over the next years, they’ve expanded their range to include a number of varieties from Chardonnay to Sangiovese.
Save Our Souls is about making delicious wines that punch above their weight, and are perfect to be shared with friends. They are wines for every day in every way. They source grapes from growers across Victoria who share their passion for interesting wines that speak from the place they come from.
