Wine review: Ledgard Wines Chardonnay 2021
Recently I was sent a few wines from Ledgard Wines to try, and I absolutely had to start with the Chardonnay. Their boutique range of wines all sound delicious, and I can’t wait to try the others and share them with you. But you know me, and I love a good Chardonnay. So when I say I loved this one, you know it is going to be a good time. The Ledgard Wines Chardonnay 2021 is perfect if you love a bit of both Chardonnay camps: A little crisp and refreshing, and a little malolactic fermentation for creamy notes of oaked Chardonnay. This wine delivers both in a beautifully balanced drop!
On the nose, the Ledgard Wines Chardonnay 2021 has lovely aromas of peach, lemon and a hint of vanilla. This follows through to the palate which has a lovely texture. It plays beautifully between rich and creamy notes and a lovely crisp and refreshing finish. Peach, lemon and brioche play together beautifully alongside this lovely texture that is nicely balanced yet complex. It’s the kind of wine that delivers the best of both worlds when it comes to Chardonnay.
About Ledgard Wines
Ledgard Wines is a family-owned business run by Rhys and his wife Andreia, who are parents to two boys, Oscar and Xavier. In 2019, Rhys suggested that they make a wine dedicated to their first son, and this idea turned into a venture that has produced seven wines from the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale wine regions to date. The Ledgard family has a long history in viticulture, with roots dating back to the 1940s.
Rhys takes a gentle approach to winemaking, using minimal intervention and additives, and selecting the best fruit from premium producers to create high-quality wines that speak for themselves.
