Recently I was sent the latest release from Innocent Bystander and it has such a fun label that I simply had to share it on a Friday to get us all pumped for the weekend! The Innocent Bystander Naturally Innocent Field Blend 2021 is their first foray into the interesting and exploratory world of natural wine. This wine has been crafted with minimal intervention and no fining or filtration.
Innocent Bystander is based in the Yarra Valley and has an awesome cellar door in Healesville if you’re in the area. Their passion is for sharing seriously good wine – but not too seriously. They want to bring some joy to wine’s serious conversations.
The Innocent Bystander Naturally Innocent Field Blend 2021 is made using equal parts of Chardonnay, Albarino and Pinot Grigio from a single vineyard in the King Valley. The fruit was picked over a day and co-fermented.
This wine gave me all the good vibes. It’s lively and fresh, packed full of flavour. I got notes of melon and lemon at the front balanced by a beautiful crispness. The finish is long, the flavours are vibrant, and the wine screams summer fun.
I can certainly see this wine being perfect at a picnic with friends or alongside a BBQ.
The Innocent Bystander Naturally Innocent Field Blend 2021 is $25 a bottle and is available from the Innocent Bystander website or at the Yarra Valley cellar door.
