I always love the Easter long weekend. It is so nice having an extra long weekend to spend with friends and family. The chocolate also isn’t bad either! I feel like the Easter long weekend is always a good opportunity to soak up those last moments of summer before we head into the cold well and truly. The mood is still high and the days aren’t too cold yet (at least up here in Queensland). So to celebrate the upcoming Easter weekend, I wanted to share five perfect wines for Easter. Whether you are entertaining or just soaking up some downtime, I hope these wines make for the perfect addition to your long weekend. Paired with a bit of chocolate and good food, they won’t go astray!
Paradox Wines Prosecco
The Easter long weekend wouldn’t be complete without some bubbly, and a low alcohol one is a great option. The Paradox Wines Prosecco delivers everything you want from a glass of bubbles but is much lower in alcohol at 9% ABV. This is perfect for enjoying a long lunch or for a daytime sip with friends. Flavours of stonefruit partner with crisp acidity that makes this wine seriously refreshing.
The Hidden Sea Rosé
We normally spend Easter at the beach, so it’s fitting to sip on a wine that helps clean up the ocean. This Rosé from the Hidden Sea is seriously refreshing and perfect for daytime sipping (read my review here). It has enough gusto to be paired with a light meal, but also would be great with a cheeseboard. And with every bottle sold removing the equivalent of 10 plastic bottles from the ocean, you can do good while enjoying your wine!
Roenfeldt Hill Grand Riognier
It’s always fun to share interesting wine with those you love. I always love bringing along new things to try, and this Grand Riognier from Roenfeldt Hill is sure to create some fun conversations. It is a blend of Riesling and Viognier and would make a great option for bringing along to a long lunch. It marries rich, apricot and peach notes from Viognier with the crisp acidity of Eden Valley Riesling. It’s such a winning combo and would be perfect with seafood or chicken.
Prometheus Wines Aglianico
Marrying into an Italian family means there is always a red at the table whether it is lunch or dinner. So I had to include red wine in the mix, and I thought the Prometheus Wines Aglianico would pair beautifully. It is light and fresh with minimal oak intervention making it a great option for enjoying over lunch. Notes of chocolate and plum come together in a beautiful, slightly rich, yet refreshing red. I’ll take my chocolate in liquid form this year!
Turners Crossing Picolit
I couldn’t round up perfect wines for Easter without including a sweeter wine. Because nothing pairs better with those sweets than something sweet. What I like about this Turners Crossing Picolit is that it isn’t too sweet, so it is great for those that don’t want something over the top. Packed full of pear, stone fruit and a hint of citrus, this wine could be paired with dessert or a nice cheeseboard depending on how much chocolate you’ve had!
In summary: five perfect wines for Easter
I hope these wines for Easter have inspired you for your long weekend. I am sure no matter what you are sipping you’ll have a great time relaxing, hopefully with some good food and wine in hand. These wines offer something for everyone to enjoy, whether they prefer bubbles, some pink or a red. They may even want more sweet to go with their chocolate!
