There is such a trend now towards no alcohol or lighter in alcohol wines. Whether you’re taking a break from drinking or just wanting to consume less alcohol, these wines are a great way to still sip on delicious wine with less standard drinks. Low alcohol wines are a great option for picnics and day drinking when you don’t want to have one too many. I love the idea of still being able to enjoy sparkling wine without having too many drinks! It means I can have my cake and eat it too in a way.

I haven’t tried many low alcohol bubbles, so I was really excited to be sent two wines from Paradox to try. I’ll be honest, the labels were what got me excited the most. I mean look at how beautiful the design is! But I was also intrigued to try a lower alcohol sparkling, so here’s what I thought!

What I loved about the Paradox Lighter in Alcohol Brut Cuvee

Paradox Lighter in Alcohol Brut Cuvee

The Paradox Lighter in Alcohol Brut Cuvee definitely surprised me in a good way. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a wine that was 9% ABV. I had to admit I was worried it might be too sweet for me. But this wine was deliciously crisp and refreshing. It did have beautiful fruity notes of peach and apple with a hint of lemon citrus, but these were balanced and the wine overall was quite delicate. I really enjoyed the persistent fruit flavours along with the crisp finish. It is the kind of wine that is perfect for cooling down after a warm day or enjoying over lunch with friends.

What I was surprised by was how much this wine tasted like a normal sparkling wine. Yes, there are more complex wines out there. But for something lower in alcohol and under $20 a bottle, it was surprisingly delicious. For this price point, you really can’t go wrong. And did I mention how pretty the bottle is?
