Wine review: Evenfall Chardonnay 2022

It’s no secret I love Chardonnay, and I also love Tasmanian wine.  So I was pretty excited to have the opportunity to try the Evenfall Chardonnay 2022. This winery is a new one, and I have to say I am hooked after this Chardonnay. It’s nicely balanced with a little bit of everything. If you prefer it to be slightly crisp, it has just the right acidity without overpowering the palate. You can’t go wrong with a Chardonnay like this one.

On the nose, the Evenfall Chardonnay 2022 has lovely lemon notes along with a hint of nut and a touch of floral aromas. The lemon follows through into the citrus and peach palate, which balances out the smooth notes nicely in this wine. There’s plenty to unpack in the texture of the palate which is smooth yet has just the right amount of acidity. Not too much, and not too little. This wine is complex and simply delicious!

About Evenfall

Evenfall is a newcomer to the Tasmanian wine scene, opening their restaurant and tasting room in late 2023. Evenfall is situated on one of the oldest vineyard sites in the Tamar Valley, planted at Legana by Richard Power in the 1972. It was first known as Powercourt Vineyard, later Elmslie, and now Evenfall. The 2022 vintage is the first release under the Evenhall label and has Liam McElhinney from Tas Vintners as the winemaker.

You can find out more about Evenfall on their website.
