Wine review: Bright Eyes Grüner Veltliner Gewürztraminer 2021
I’m always looking to discover new wines and wine styles, and I have to admit I haven’t seen too many lower-alcohol wines on the market. Not as many as alcohol-free wines which is a huge category. But I love the idea of lower alcohol alternatives. They’re great if you’re being mindful of what you drink, or if you’re sipping during the daytime. So when I was sent the Bright Eyes Grüner Veltliner Gewürztraminer 2021 to try, I was pretty excited to crack it open and see. The premise behind the wine is that it’s low alcohol without compromising on flavour. And I have to say after trying this wine I completely agree!
On the nose, the Bright Eyes Grüner Veltliner Gewürztraminer 2021 is wonderfully aromatic with notes of grapefruit, lemon and a hint of floral. The fruity notes follow through into the palate which is packed full of bright fruit notes of lemon, grapefruit and lychee. This is followed by just the right kick of acidity to make this wine oh-so-refreshing. It’s a thirst quencher with bright freshness throughout. This wine reminds me of summer and would be perfect for enjoying with friends over a picnic or simply watching the sunset. I honestly didn’t notice the lower alcohol in this wine, nor did I miss it with this tasty drop!
About Bright Eyes
Mary Hamilton from Hugh Hamilton Wines started Bright Eyes for those special occasions, big or small, where you want to enjoy living in the moment. As a mother of two and business owner, she wanted to create a wine that didn’t compromise on taste or quality but also didn’t have the alcohol content so she could wake up with bright eyes.
Mary believes the wine is only as good as the vine and region it comes from, so Bright Eyes is produced using grapes from the Adelaide Hills: the home to premium white wines in Australia.
