Now that winter has truly descended on us here in Australia, I’ve been on the hunt for some seriously good red wines. Nothing beats a warming red on a cold night. Even in Brisbane we still need them too! So when I got the chance to sample the Terranu Wines Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015 I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to crack it open, and a cold Friday night presented the perfect excuse.
This wine was seriously good, and perfect for a special occasion. The best part about it? The wine has already been aged before release so you don’t need to wait to enjoy it! It’s drinking beautifully now without having to cellar it. So if you’re like me and not as patient as you should be, this wine will be right up your alley.

What I loved about the Terranu Wines Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015
The Terranu Wines Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015 is made using grapes from 20-year-old vines into a wine that is aged to perfection before release. On the nose I got beautiful notes of blackberry and pepper, along with some toastiness from oak influence. The wine has have 30% new French oak, and 70% seasoned oak.
What I loved so much about this wine was the texture. It had a nice firm structure but velvety tannins. The wine had a nice juicy red fruit punch upfront but tapers off into a long soft oaky finish. But each sip offered more to unpack. There were so many layers to this wine and the palate was really elegant. It was simply delicious to drink, and the sort of wine that is almost too good to share.
This wine is at a slightly higher price point, but the quality is there to justify it. This wine is something special, and it is drinking beautifully now thanks to being aged before release. It would make for the perfect gift for a special someone or the perfect accompaniment to a nice meal.
What to enjoy it with
The Terranu Wines Barossa Valley Shiraz 2015 is a perfect food wine, as most Barossa Shiraz is. This wine is calling out to be enjoyed with a beautiful meal. Personally, I don’t think you could go wrong with something braised like braised beef, or even a nice roast lamb. Something with richer flavours. Think those perfect winter warming dishes! That and a bottle of this wine is a match made in heaven.

This wine label sound like they are onto a good approach to making wine. Sourcing the grape and sticking to the making. A little high on the price point for me – though no doubt worth it. Will keep an eye out for a tasting.
