The Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé 2014 is a seriously delicious wine offering champagne flavours without the price tag. It is rich, complex and creamy yet lively, making it perfect for summer sipping. Whether you want to enjoy it with a starter or simply before a meal with friends and family, this wine is a great addition.

Now that we are in December I am doing the research into some great sparkling wines for the silly season. It’s a tough job, but someone has got to do it! And Taltarni for me is always a good time. I’ve been a long term fan of Taltarni because their Sparkling Wines are made using the Champagne method but are under $30 a bottle. If that doesn’t scream celebrations I don’t know what does!

I hadn’t tried their Taché Sparkling wine before, or any Sparkling Wine in this style before if I’m honest. So I was excited to give this one a go! Taché is the French word for ‘stained’. When the wine is disgorged, the wine is stained with red wine. This gives it a unique taste and beautiful salmon colour. And what’s better than a Sparkling Rosé in Summer?

About Taltarni

I’ve always been a fan of Taltarni sparkling ever since I discovered their wines at a Good Food and Wine show many years ago. Now after trying their red wines this year I am a huge fan of all their wines! Their reds were some of the most memorable ones I had last year. However, their sparkling wines always nail it for me and this one is no different (their Blanc de Blancs has been a favourite of this year so far, read the review here)

Taltarni released their first wine in 1977 and had immediate award wins. They are located in the Pyrenees, a perfect spot for the production of high-quality grapes. The cool nights and warm days allow for the slow ripening of the grapes for perfect flavours.

Their winery is founded on the principles of individuality, independence and expression, combining old-world traditions with new-world techniques. The result? High quality red and white wines and traditional method sparklings for us to enjoy!

What I loved about the Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé

The Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé 2014 was made from low yielding aged vines giving it richer flavours. I absolutely love the structure of this wine and its complexity. It has so much to it to unpack yet it is finely balanced.

There are so many flavours to discover in this wine. Strawberry and red fruits dominate from the addition of a dosage of aged Pinot Noir, along with a hint of floral. This is complemented by creamy notes, nuttiness and brioche from the traditional method treatment. But the texture is absolutely amazing in this wine. It is rich and creamy with a lovely crisp finish. This makes it complex yet refreshing and all-around delicious.

What to enjoy it with

Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé

The Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé 2014 can be enjoyed with or without food. I think there is enough complexity in this wine to make it the perfect pre-dinner drink to sip on. It has so much to it, and that lively acidity at the finish makes it surprisingly refreshing. I can imagine this being a great start to a nice meal with friends or family.

If you want to pair it with food, opt for starters. Aperitif would be a great pairing with those salty and creamy flavours of cured meats, chips and cheese. Otherwise, seafood starters would be a great option too. Tuna ceviche, smoked salmon or shellfish would be a great pairing with this wine.

In summary: Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé

The Taltarni Taché Sparkling Rosé 2014 is perfect for Summer celebrations. It has rich, creamy yet lively flavours making it complex and refreshing. It is beautifully balanced and all too easy to polish off as you unpack it. I love this style of sparkling wine and can imagine myself enjoying a bottle or two of this over the silly season.
