You’ll enjoy it if: You like your Sparkling wine with a hint of acidity
The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 is the perfect blend between an easy-drinking and refined wine. The balance of flavours between a subtle fruit front and crisp acidic finish make for a delicious drop that’s perfect for those occasions that need a bit of extra sparkle.
Over the long weekend, we had plenty of wine, probably a little too much! But when the sun is shining and you’re relaxing at the beach, a glass of wine in hand really tops it off! One of the wines I really enjoyed drinking was the Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015, and I loved it so much I had to share it with you all just a few days after enjoying it.
We caught up with a couple of friends for Australia Day and after taking our dogs to the dog beach for a couple of hours, we were in the mood for something refreshing as we relaxed in the shade. What is more refreshing than a glass of bubbles? Especially one as refreshing as this drop!
The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 is refined easy-drinking
I’ve been lucky enough to try a few Taltarni sparkling wines over the past couple of months (check out my other reviews here and here). Each one has been truly delicious and left me wanting more! Their wines are made using the traditional method of Sparkling winemaking aka how they produce Champagne. Although because Taltarni is not produced in Champagne it can’t be labelled as this, you can expect really delicious things from the wine! It is like Champagne without the price point!
Taltarni wines are made using great care and the best quality grapes to produce fantastic wines. The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 was made using 100% Chardonnay grapes from the cool climate regions of Tasmania, Adelaide Hills and Pyrenees in Victoria.
Why I loved it
I don’t normally drink a lot of 100% Chardonnay sparkling, but I’m also not one to pass up a glass of any kind of bubbles if its on offer. The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 did not disappoint with its flavours! It had delicious notes of green apple and cinnamon with a hint of toastiness from the traditional method of production. This means you’ll find notes of brioche, which goes oh so well with the green apple!
This wine was beautifully balanced and really delivered on flavour. Although it had a toastiness to it, the crisp acidic hit at the end really rounded it out and left you wanting another sip. The wine was super refreshing and all too easy to drink. If you like your Sparkling Wine not too acidic, but still crisp, you’ll love this one! And $26 a bottle is such a good price for a delicious wine like this one!
What to enjoy it with
Personally I don’t think you need to pair this wine with anything. It went oh so well as we sat enjoying the sunshine on our long weekend. If you have a nice beach setting it would be a bonus! The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 is so nice and refreshing it is a perfect sparkling for hot summer days!
If you are looking to pair it with food, I would recommend some tasty french cheese. This wine would go well with something nice, rich and gooey. Alternatively, if you’re at the beach, go with the classic combo of Sparkling wine and chips! Some fish and chips and this delicious wine will be sure to up the ante of any beach trip!
The final word on the Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015
The Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2015 is perfect for summer sipping. It had a great balance of flavour that made it oh so refreshing to drink. It was easy-drinking whilst still complex, making for a perfect wine to enjoy over an afternoon. Be warned though, this might not last too long! It is just that tasty that you’ll find yourself polishing it off all too quickly. And at $26 a bottle, you don’t need to think too much about popping the cork on this one!
