You’ll enjoy it if: You prefer your Sparkling Wine not too dry
The Taltarni 2014 Brut is perfect for celebrating without breaking the bank. With toasty, soft and creamy flavours, this wine is perfectly rounded out with crisp acidity. It won’t be hard for you to finish off a bottle with friends!
Just in time for Christmas, I wanted to review another Sparkling Wine from Taltarni. A few weeks ago I reviewed their Sparkling Rosé which was so delicious I had to try another one – this time opting for the Taltarni 2014 Brut. I have to say in summary that this is one wine that I’d love to be drinking over the Christmas period, and I think you would too!
When it comes to the holiday season, I’m always leaning towards Sparkling Wine. It’s festive, it’s refreshing and it’s great for sharing with friends and family. However, you may not always want to splash out on expensive Champagne (because we can’t all have the wine budget of a millionaire). So finding Sparkling Wine that still gives you the experience of Champagne but doesn’t break the bank is always the name of the game! I think this Taltarni drop really fits the bill, and what’s more, you’ll be supporting the Australian wine industry choosing this delicious drop over something French!
The Taltarni 2014 Brut is just delicious
The Taltarni 2014 Brut is part of the Essence Sparkling Range which has been released in new packaging just in time for the festive season. Taltarni is known for its Sparkling Wines that come from cool-climates and are made with a focus on developing full flavours and quality wine.
Their Sparkling Wine range is made using the French method of Champagne, giving it the complexity of Champagne without the price tag. This is good for us consumers on a budget who want to drink incredible wine but don’t want to spend too much! At around $26 a bottle, you can enjoy wines like these without having to worry too much about opening them!
Why I loved it
The Taltarni 2014 Brut is an absolutely beautiful wine. What I noticed about it first was the fine bead in the Sparkling Wine. The bubbles were mesmerising and I spent a while just watching them before taking a sip!
However, the flavour really stole the show. The wine itself is creamy and toasty flavours of brioche and roasted nuts fill your mouth with each sip. This is finished off by a citrus flavour that gives acidity on the finish, making the wine balanced, soft and creamy with a lingering flavour. I loved the crisp finish as it made the wine quite refreshing.
This wine has everything you’d want from a Champagne without the price tag. It’s creamy and soft but the refreshing citrus finish makes it incredible balanced. Easy drinking at its fanciest!
What to enjoy it with
We enjoyed the Taltarni 2014 Brut before dinner. I actually had a sneaky glass to take my self-care Sunday to the next level! Note: this wine goes very well with a soak in the bathtub! However, it would go just as well being opened with a bunch of friends and enjoying over an afternoon!
If you are wanting to pair this wine, I would recommend cheeses, particularly of the creamy variety. Popcorn is also a great option if you want something unconventional to pair it with! If you’re looking for something more substantial, these flavours go very well with creamy dishes and seafood like oysters.
The final word on the Taltarni 2014 Brut
The Taltarni 2014 Brut is a beautiful wine and perfect for celebrating without breaking the bank! It has everything you’d want from a Champagne with a deliciously crisp finish. This wine will be polished off quickly because it is so easy to drink!
Wines like these are perfect for celebrating, and at under $30 a bottle, you don’t need anything too big as an excuse! Just have a couple on hand for enjoying over the holidays and you’ll be set!
