It’s a month and a half until our wedding and what better way to celebrate than with bubbles! That’s why I’ve totally been getting into them lately to help me through the planning and make it a little more fun. So I had to share this beautiful bottle that Soumah sent me to help get the party going!

Soumah is a winery I’m a big fan of – I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from them and this one is no different. It makes me excited for our wedding where I’m hoping to visit for some beautiful views, great food and even better wine! We visited them for lunch on the day we got engaged! ⁠

About Soumah of the Yarra Valley

Soumah of the Yarra Valley is a winery we visited late last year on our trip to the Yarra Valley. Their cellar door is beautiful, has a great restaurant, and their range of wines has something for everyone and every price point. I honestly can say I am a big fan of everything I’ve tried from them, and I keep finding more that I love.

Soumah of the Yarra Valley has a great range of varieties they offer. They have the classics – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Viognier, but also focus on styles from Northern Italy such as Barbera, Brachetto, Nebbiolo and Pinot Grigio. This is what I love about their wines – you can try something you wouldn’t normally find in the Yarra Valley.

Why I loved the Soumah 2020 Single Vineyard Blanc de Blanc

The Soumah 2020 Single Vineyard Blanc de Blanc is made using Chardonnay grapes – but don’t be fooled if you’re not a fan of Chardonnay! Chardonnay is one of the principle grapes in Champagne, and tastes very different in sparkling wine. What I loved about this wine was how crisp and refreshing it was. It was packed full of citrus crispness which made it oh so refreshing on a hot day! I also got a hint of tropical fruits from the aroma along with grapefruit. In the palate however I got some lovely stone fruit and a hint of minerality to balance out the fruit. The wine was super balanced and easy drinking with a lovely crisp finish.

This sparkling is perfect for celebrating those last warmer days with friends and it would be great for any celebration. The crisp flavours make it an easy drinking sparkling that I think most people would enjoy! Easy going, delicious and refreshing. What more could you want?

What to enjoy it with

The Soumah 2020 Single Vineyard Blanc de Blanc doesn’t need to be enjoyed with any food at all. Because it is so refreshing it would be great to have before a meal or even as an afternoon sipper with friends. You don’t need to think too hard about what to pair it with to enjoy it and that’s what I love about it.

If you were to pair it with anything, I would suggest an apertif. Something light that people can snack on – even if it is some potato chips (don’t knock it till you try it). This wine really doesn’t need much, but if you’re pairing it with snacks it will always go well. If you want something fancy you could pair it with Oysters, but I honestly think good friends, some snack food and this wine would be perfect.
