About Billy Button Wines

NV Billy Button Prosecco

Billy Button Wines was started in 2014. They focus on three factors in their premium wine: emerging regions, varietal diversity and inspired winemaking.

Where does the name come from? It is the name for the flowers you find on the mountain tops of the Alpine Valleys which are bouncy yellow balls. They are called Craspedia and are native daisies that create a sea of yellow in the warmer months across the Alpine Valleys region. Their packaging pays homage to this bright and happy flower which makes all their wines look so fun!

Rather than establish their own vineyards, Billy Button works with established vineyards and dedicated growers to use the best fruit available in the region for their wines.

The NV Billy Button Prosecco is the newest addition to the Billy Button Wildflower range. Prosecco flourishes in the Alpine Valley, however, due to the summer bushfires the Glera grapes that Billy Button usually sources were destroyed by smoke taint. So for this NV Prosecco, they’ve used grapes from the neighbouring King Valley.

What I loved about the NV Billy Button Prosecco

The NV Billy Button Prosecco is easy-drinking goodness specifically made for enjoying now. It ticks the box on everything you’d want from a Prosecco. It’s light, dry and crisp making it oh so refreshing. But it also comes at a price point that means you don’t have to think twice about cracking it open. This makes it perfect for any occasion from afternoon drinks to a picnic in the park with friends.

What I love about this wine is how aromatic it is. On the nose, it was bursting with pear and melon. In the glass, this wine had the right balance of fruit and crisp acidity to make it thirst-quenching. Flavours of lemon, apple and pear dominated the palate giving plenty to like. This wine is all-around delicious and simply easy to enjoy.

What to enjoy it with

The NV Billy Button Prosecco is a wine I don’t think you need food to enjoy. It would be so at home with afternoon drinks with friends or pre-dinner to cool off in summer. But it would also be at home with a picnic and some nibbles, or a couple of antipasti. Whatever you want to pair with it, this wine is sure to be a summer staple. The kind of wine you can bring along to celebrations of any kind, or just pop open before dinner.

In summary: NV Billy Button Prosecco

The NV Billy Button Prosecco is seriously refreshing and full of easy-drinking goodness. There is so much to like about this wine that is simply enjoyable to drink. Perfect for celebrations or simply cooling down after a hot summer day. However you want to enjoy it, this Prosecco is a winner in my books.
