Wine review: Lambert Estate Palindrome Tannat 2021

I have to say I haven’t drunk much Tannat. It’s not a grape variety you see a lot of here in Australia. So I was pretty excited to try the Lambert Estate Palindrome Tannat 2021 and explore this wonderfully bold grape. Our weather can’t really work out what it’s doing, so this wine is perfect for those cooler days we are starting to get as winter comes. It’s big, bold and warming. But the best part is that it pairs perfectly with roasts as we head into winter. I actually paired this with Chilli Con Carne that we had over the weekend and it was the perfect comfort combination.

The first thing that surprised me about the Lambert Estate Palindrome Tannat 2021 was how aromatic it was. Notes of raspberry, strawberry and a hint of floral jumped out of the glass. These red berries followed through into the palate along with a lovely spice profile and just the right amount of tannins. This wine has serious length and complexity with delicious rich and bold notes to unpack. It’s beautiful from first to last sip, and makes me think I should be enjoying more Tannat!

About Lambert Estate

Lambert Estate, previously known as Stanley Lambert Wines, is a family affair. James (Jim) and Pamela Lambert are the owners and their son Kirk and wife Vanessa are the winemakers. Jim and Pamela moved to Australia in the 1990s after business travels brought him to Australia, and his dream was realised when they discovered the vineyards in the Barossa Hills that would become Lambert Estate. Kirk joined them and studied wine-making at the University of Adelaide where he fell in love with Vanessa.

Now Kirk and Vanessa bring their American and Peruvian backgrounds to winemaking to create wines with flair and individuality in every bottle. Lambert Estate wines are authentic Barossa Valley wines that respect the past while keeping an eye on the future.
