We have enjoyed some seriously good Chardonnay over the past few weeks, so I was excited to keep the Chardonnay train going with this Idyll Victoria Chardonnay which I was sent to try!
Idyll Wine Co. is situated on the original Idyll Vineyards planted in the late 1960s. The winery has been extensively developed over the past decade and uses fruits from throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia to produce distinct wines that are true to their variety and region. Vintage after vintage they deliver great value for money wines.
The Idyll Victoria Chardonnay is seriously good value at $12 a bottle. For a tasty and easy drinking Chardonnay that’s great bang for buck!
The wine itself is medium-bodied and fruit-forward. I found it had a nice toasty oak characteristic at the back of the palate to balance out flavours of peach and melon along with a nice citrus finish. Because it wasn’t super oaked I think those who don’t normally like Chardonnay could get around this one.
What I love about this wine is you don’t need to think too much about it to enjoy it. It’s the sort of wine that is perfect for a midweek wine. It also goes well with plenty of food choices because of its body – so it would make the perfect pair to your takeout of choice along with a good Netflix show!
Idyll wines are available via their cellar door or at Dan Murphy’s.
